3M Tegaderm Transparent Film Dressing — Frame Style, 8 Sizes, IV & Wound Coverage
The clinical standard for transparent film dressings — in every size you need. 3M Tegaderm Transparent Film Dressings are sterile, breathable, waterproof, vapor-permeable polyurethane film dressings used across more clinical settings than any other transparent film on the market. The frame-style picture-frame delivery system allows accurate one-handed placement without touching the adhesive — then the dressing conforms to the body and flexes with skin movement for the full wear period. Hypoallergenic, latex-free adhesive holds securely while remaining gentle on skin. Transparent film and adhesive allow continuous site observation without dressing removal. Available in eight sizes from 1-3/4 x 1-3/4 inch through 6 x 8 inch — covering peripheral IV, central line, PICC, large wound, and sacral applications from a single product line.
✔ Breathable & Vapor-Permeable — Lets Oxygen & Moisture Vapor Through ✔ Waterproof — Bacterial & Viral Barrier, Patients Can Shower ✔ Frame Style — Accurate One-Handed Placement ✔ Can Be Cut to Any Shape or Size ✔ Radiologically Transparent — Safe During Radiotherapy ✔ Latex-Free, Hypoallergenic Adhesive

How Tegaderm Transparent Film Dressings Work
Tegaderm's polyurethane film is semi-permeable — it allows oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor to pass through while blocking liquid water, bacteria, and viral particles. This breathability prevents the anaerobic conditions and moisture accumulation that impair healing and increase infection risk, while the waterproof outer surface keeps external contaminants out. The transparent film and adhesive allow clinicians to observe the wound or IV site continuously without removing the dressing — reducing unnecessary dressing changes and the disruption that comes with them.
- Breathable film — permeable to O₂, CO₂, and water vapor; impermeable to liquids, bacteria, and viruses ≥27nm including HIV-1 and HBV
- Moist wound environment — seals in natural wound fluid to prevent scab formation and wound bed dehydration, supporting faster superficial wound healing
- Autolytic debridement support — moist environment beneath the film facilitates the body's own natural debridement process
- Friction protection — film barrier reduces mechanical friction on at-risk skin, helping prevent skin breakdown
- Conformable design — dressing flexes with skin and body movement for continuous adhesion and greater patient comfort over the full wear period
- Frame delivery — picture-frame backing allows accurate placement without touching the adhesive, even with gloved hands; dressing can be cut to any shape or size before application
- Radiologically transparent — can be safely left on during radiotherapy; does not act as bolus material with or without Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film
