Description

3M Tegaderm High Performance Foam Non-Adhesive Dressing — Multi-Layer Absorbency, Compression-Ready, 6 Sizes

High absorbency. Won't stick. Works under compression. The 3M Tegaderm High Performance Foam Non-Adhesive Dressing is a multi-layer polyurethane foam wound dressing engineered to handle the full spectrum of wound exudate — from lightly draining acute wounds to heavily exuding chronic ulcers — without adhering to the wound bed or causing maceration of surrounding skin. Its unique four-layer construction absorbs rapidly, evaporates efficiently, and adapts dynamically to changing exudate levels throughout the healing process. A breathable film backing seals the top surface against bacterial and viral contamination while allowing continuous moisture vapor exchange — keeping the wound environment optimal without trapping excess moisture. Effective as a primary or secondary dressing and specifically engineered to perform reliably under compression wraps.

✔ Multi-Layer Foam Design — High Absorbency With High Breathability    ✔ Adapts to Changing Exudate Levels — Optimal Moisture Balance Throughout Healing    ✔ Non-Adherent — Won't Stick to Wound Bed, Minimal Disruption on Removal    ✔ Effective Under Compression — Maintains Full Fluid Handling Capacity    ✔ Film Backing — Bacterial & Viral Barrier, Prevents Exudate Strike-Through

How Tegaderm Foam Works — What Makes It Different

Standard foam dressings absorb at a fixed rate — once saturated they leak, cause maceration, or require frequent changes. Tegaderm High Performance Foam is built differently. Its four-layer construction works as an active moisture management system: the polyurethane foam base wicks exudate rapidly away from the wound surface, the absorbent nonwoven layers distribute and hold fluid evenly across the dressing, and the breathable film top layer continuously evaporates moisture outward — preventing the dressing from becoming overly saturated and dramatically reducing the maceration risk that plagues single-layer foam dressings. Because evaporation is engineered into the design, the dressing self-regulates to the wound's output — managing a heavily draining wound in early healing and continuing to perform efficiently as exudate levels decrease. The non-adherent foam base lifts cleanly from the wound bed at each dressing change, preserving regenerating tissue and reducing patient discomfort.

  • Fast-wicking polyurethane foam pulls exudate away from the wound surface immediately on contact
  • Absorbent nonwoven layers distribute fluid evenly — prevents pooling and localized saturation
  • Breathable film top layer continuously evaporates moisture — actively reduces maceration risk
  • Adapts to changing exudate levels throughout healing — one dressing for the full wound cycle
  • High fluid handling capacity maintained under compression — purpose-built for leg ulcer compression therapy
  • Non-adherent foam base — lifts cleanly at dressing changes, no disruption of granulating tissue
  • Film backing provides bacterial and viral barrier — prevents outside contamination through the foam
  • Conformable and flexible — molds to body contours and moves with the patient
  • Can be cut to size without compromising layer integrity or fluid handling performance
  • Sterile and latex-free — appropriate for sensitive patients and clinical infection control settings

The Four-Layer Design — Built-In Moisture Management

Most wound dressings are single-purpose — they absorb or they protect, but rarely do both well at the same time. Tegaderm High Performance Foam is constructed in four distinct functional layers, each with a specific role in managing the wound environment. This layered architecture is what separates it from basic foam dressings and makes it the clinical choice for wounds where exudate management, maceration prevention, and extended wear time all matter.

Layer Function
Layer 1 — Polyurethane Foam Non-adherent wound contact layer — wicks exudate rapidly upward, won't bond to wound tissue
Layers 2 & 3 — Absorbent Nonwoven Distributes and locks absorbed fluid evenly across the dressing — prevents localized saturation and leakage
Layer 4 — Breathable Film Backing Moisture vapor permeable — continuously evaporates fluid outward while sealing against bacteria and viruses from outside
  • Exudate absorbed upward through layers — kept away from wound bed and periwound skin at all times
  • Visible exudate spread toward dressing edges signals when a change is needed — no guesswork
  • Dressing can be cut without compromising layer integrity or fluid handling performance
  • Performs under compression without collapsing — maintains absorbency even when wrapped

Choosing the Right Size

  • 90600 — 2" x 2" (5cm x 5cm) — 10/box — Smallest size — ideal for very small wounds, pediatric applications, finger and toe wounds, and compact pressure injuries
  • 90601 — 4" x 4" (10cm x 10cm) — 10/box — Standard workhorse size — the most widely used for general pressure ulcer, surgical wound, and leg ulcer coverage
  • 90602 — 4" x 8" (10cm x 20cm) — 5/box — Rectangular elongated — ideal for longer wounds on the lower leg, shin, forearm, or post-surgical incision sites
  • 90603 — 8" x 8" (20cm x 20cm) — 5/box — Large square — heavily exuding wounds, large pressure injuries, sacral wounds, and broad surgical sites
  • 90604 — 3½" x 3½" Fenestrated (8.8cm x 8.8cm) — 10/box — Pre-cut center opening designed for use around drains, tubes, tracheostomies, and catheter exit sites
  • 90605 — 4" x 24" Roll — 6 rolls/case — Continuous roll for custom sizing — cut to exact wound dimensions, ideal for facilities managing diverse wound sizes or requiring maximum flexibility per application
