3M Tegaderm HP Transparent Film Dressing β High-Adhesion Frame Style, 4 Sizes
Standard Tegaderm holds. Tegaderm HP holds harder. 3M Tegaderm HP is the high-adhesion version of 3M's industry-standard transparent film dressing β built with a reinforced adhesive formulation that maintains secure attachment in the presence of moderate moisture, including hot and humid environments and diaphoretic patients where standard transparent dressings commonly lift or fail. The same breathable polyurethane film that makes Tegaderm the clinical standard for IV and wound site coverage β transparent for continuous monitoring, waterproof, permeable to oxygen and moisture vapor, impermeable to bacteria and viruses β now with significantly greater holding power for the conditions where adhesion matters most. Frame-style picture-frame delivery for accurate one-handed placement without touching the adhesive. Up to 7-day wear.
β Higher Adhesion Than Standard Tegaderm β Holds in Moist & Challenging Conditions Β Β β Transparent β Continuous Site Monitoring Without Removal Β Β β Waterproof β Patients Can Shower With Dressing in Place Β Β β Viral Barrier β Tested Against HIV-1, HBV, and Viruses β₯27nm Β Β β Frame Style β One-Handed Accurate Placement Β Β β Up to 7-Day Wear

Tegaderm HP vs. Standard Tegaderm β What's Different
Tegaderm HP transparent film dressings are more adherent in moist conditions than standard 3M transparent dressings β that's the core distinction. The film and adhesive formulation are both reinforced for high-moisture environments. Everything else β the breathable polyurethane film, the frame-style delivery, the transparency, the waterproof barrier, the viral protection β is the same technology that makes standard Tegaderm the clinical benchmark. HP is the right choice when:
- The patient is diaphoretic or perspires heavily
- The dressing site is in a hot or humid environment
- Standard transparent dressings are lifting or failing to maintain wear time
- Extended 7-day wear is required and adhesion failure is a documented problem
- The site requires maximum security β central line, high-movement locations, or difficult anatomical positions

| Adhesion Level | High (HP) β reinforced for moist conditions | Standard |
| Film | Breathable polyurethane | Breathable polyurethane |
| Best For | Diaphoretic patients, challenging environments, extended wear, high-movement sites | Standard IV and wound coverage in typical conditions |

How Tegaderm HP Works
- High-adhesion film and adhesive β reinforced formulation grips securely even when the skin surface has moderate moisture present, preventing edge lift and dressing failure that standard adhesives experience in these conditions
- Breathable polyurethane film β permeable to oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor, allowing normal gas exchange and moisture vapor transmission while blocking liquid water, bacteria, and viral particles
- Waterproof barrier β prevents external liquids from reaching the wound or IV site; patients may shower with dressing in place (waterproof cover over dressing and IV site recommended during showering)
- Viral barrier β in vitro testing confirms the film provides a barrier against viruses 27nm in diameter or larger, including HIV-1 and HBV, while the dressing remains intact
- Moist wound environment β by sealing in natural wound fluid, the film prevents scab formation and wound bed dehydration, supporting healing in superficial wounds
- Frame-style delivery β picture-frame backing allows accurate placement without touching the adhesive surface, reducing contamination risk and dressing waste; can be cut to any shape or size as needed
- Transparent film and adhesive β allows continuous visual monitoring of the IV site or wound without dressing removal
Choosing the Right Size
- 9534HP (2-3/8 x 2-3/4") β The peripheral IV standard size. Fits most standard peripheral catheter sites. Box of 100 β best value for high-volume peripheral IV use.
- 9546HP (4 x 4-1/2") β The larger central line and general wound coverage size. Includes a pre-printed document label to record dressing change date and time β useful for protocol tracking. Box of 50.
- 9548HP (4 x 4-1/2" Sacral/Oval) β Same high-adhesion HP formula in an oval sacral shape designed specifically for the sacral area and other difficult-to-dress anatomical locations where rectangular dressings don't conform well.
- 9519HP (2-3/8 x 2-3/8" with Secure Strip) β Square format with an added secure strip for extra reinforcement around the catheter hub. Ideal when maximum security at the insertion point is required.
Application Instructions
- Prepare the skin β clean and dry the site thoroughly before application
- Open the sterile package and remove the dressing without touching the adhesive surface
- Position the dressing over the IV site or wound using the picture-frame backing for accurate placement
- Press from center outward to smooth and secure β ensure full adhesive contact
- Remove the frame backing after the dressing is positioned and adhered
- Monitor the site regularly β check for signs of infection, dressing lift, or adhesive failure
- If showering, use a waterproof cover over the dressing and IV site
- Change at 7 days maximum or sooner if the dressing lifts, becomes saturated, or clinical protocol requires
