Coloplast Brava Elastic Barrier Strips are a skin-friendly, elastic alternative to medical tape used to secure the edges of ostomy skin barriers and prevent them from lifting, rolling, or peeling away from the skin during wear. Applied like a picture frame around the perimeter of the barrier — overlapping the barrier edge onto surrounding skin — each strip uses Coloplast's BodyFit Technology® to provide 1.5 times the elasticity of conventional tape, conforming to body contours and bending and stretching with every movement. The moisture-absorbing material stays in contact with the skin even in high-moisture environments — perspiration, bathing, and activity do not break the hold the way standard tape allows. Once an edge lifts, output begins tracking under the barrier from that point, undermining the seal from the outside in. Brava Elastic Barrier Strips address this specifically by covering and securing the barrier perimeter — the overlap onto surrounding skin anchors the edge from both sides, stopping the lifting process before it starts. Patients who experience frequent unplanned leaks often find that barrier strips alone eliminate the problem without any other change to their pouching system.
• BodyFit Technology® — 1.5x the Elasticity of Standard Tape — Standard medical tape is inelastic — it does not stretch with skin movement, which causes it to wrinkle, buckle, or peel at flex points during activity. How to Apply Brava Elastic Barrier Strips

1. Apply your ostomy skin barrier as normal and press it firmly into place.
2. Remove the backing from a Brava Elastic Barrier Strip.
3. Position the strip so it overlaps the outer edge of the barrier by approximately half an inch, with the remaining adhesive portion contacting the surrounding skin — like a frame around a picture.
4. Press firmly along the full length of the strip, smoothing from center outward to prevent air pockets.
5. Apply a second strip on the opposite edge or wherever additional support is needed.
6. Run your finger firmly along the beveled edge to ensure full contact with the skin.

Removal: Peel back slowly using an adhesive remover or Coloplast Brava Adhesive Remover Spray if needed. Do not pull rapidly — the elastic material stretches rather than tears away cleanly without remover.
