Coloplast Brava Elastic Barrier Strips — Prevents Barrier Lifting & Rolling, BodyFit Technology, Multiple Shapes & Sizes
Stops edges from lifting. Moves with your body. Outlasts standard tape. Coloplast Brava Elastic Barrier Strips are a skin-friendly, elastic alternative to medical tape used to secure the edges of ostomy skin barriers and prevent them from lifting, rolling, or peeling away from the skin during wear. Applied like a picture frame around the perimeter of the barrier — overlapping the barrier edge onto surrounding skin — each strip uses Coloplast's BodyFit Technology® to provide 1.5 times the elasticity of conventional tape, conforming to body contours and bending and stretching with every movement. The moisture-absorbing material stays in contact with the skin even in high-moisture environments — perspiration, bathing, and activity do not break the hold the way standard tape allows. Beveled edges prevent edge lift-off. Skin-friendly and latex-free. Available in four shapes — Curved, Straight, XL Curved, and Y-Shape — to fit different barrier styles and body profiles.
✔ Prevents Barrier Edge Lifting & Rolling ✔ BodyFit Technology® — 1.5x Elasticity of Standard Tape ✔ Absorbs Moisture — Holds Through Sweat ✔ Beveled Edges ✔ Skin-Friendly Alternative to Tape ✔ Curved · Straight · XL · Y-Shape ✔ Latex-Free

Features & Benefits
- Prevents Barrier Edge Lifting & Rolling — The Primary Job — The leading cause of premature pouching system failure is not barrier adhesive breakdown at the center — it is edge lift-off at the perimeter of the wafer. Once an edge lifts, output begins tracking under the barrier from that point, undermining the seal from the outside in. Brava Elastic Barrier Strips address this specifically by covering and securing the barrier perimeter — the overlap onto surrounding skin anchors the edge from both sides, stopping the lifting process before it starts. Patients who experience frequent unplanned leaks often find that barrier strips alone eliminate the problem without any other change to their pouching system.
- BodyFit Technology® — 1.5x the Elasticity of Standard Tape — Standard medical tape is inelastic — it does not stretch with skin movement, which causes it to wrinkle, buckle, or peel at flex points during activity. Brava Elastic Barrier Strips use Coloplast's BodyFit Technology® to deliver elastic material that stretches and recovers with body movement — bending, sitting, turning, and reaching — without creating the mechanical stress that pulls tape loose. The strip stays flat and fully bonded across the entire adhesive surface regardless of activity level.
- Absorbs Moisture — Holds Through Sweat & Bathing — Standard tape becomes saturated and loses adhesion in high-moisture conditions. Brava Elastic Barrier Strip material is specifically designed to absorb moisture rather than trap it at the skin-adhesive interface. Absorbed moisture does not break the bond — the strip maintains contact and adhesion even during perspiration-heavy activity, showering, or swimming. For active ostomy patients, this is the most meaningful difference between elastic barrier strips and conventional tape.
- Four Shapes for Every Barrier and Body Profile — The Curved strip (120700) is the most commonly used shape — designed for standard round or oval barriers. The Straight strip (120701) suits square or rectangular barriers. The XL Curved (12076) provides 60% more adhesive coverage for larger barriers, active patients, or anyone who needs maximum perimeter securement — it is specifically recommended for use with Coloplast SenSura Mio Convex Flip barriers. The Y-Shape (120730) is designed for outward body profiles including hernias, rounded abdomens, and deep skin folds where standard curved strips cannot follow the contour adequately.
- Skin-Friendly Tape Alternative — Beveled Edges — Standard medical tape applied directly to peristomal skin causes mechanical trauma on removal and can trigger adhesive contact reactions with repeated use. Brava Elastic Barrier Strips are formulated to be skin-friendly for ongoing daily use. The beveled (tapered) edges feather smoothly against the skin at the strip perimeter — eliminating the raised edge that standard tape creates and that typically lifts first under clothing or movement.
- Use One or Two Per Change — Apply strips where edge lifting is most likely — typically the lower edge of the barrier where output pooling and gravity create the greatest stress. One strip on the bottom edge is often sufficient. Two strips (top and bottom, or full frame) provide maximum perimeter coverage for active patients or difficult barrier locations.

How to Apply Brava Elastic Barrier Strips
- Apply your ostomy skin barrier as normal and press it firmly into place.
- Remove the backing from a Brava Elastic Barrier Strip.
- Position the strip so it overlaps the outer edge of the barrier by approximately half an inch, with the remaining adhesive portion contacting the surrounding skin — like a frame around a picture.
- Press firmly along the full length of the strip, smoothing from center outward to prevent air pockets.
- Apply a second strip on the opposite edge or wherever additional support is needed.
- Run your finger firmly along the beveled edge to ensure full contact with the skin.
Removal: Peel back slowly using an adhesive remover or Coloplast Brava Adhesive Remover Spray if needed. Do not pull rapidly — the elastic material stretches rather than tears away cleanly without remover.
