Features & Benefits

  • Complete Kit — Ready to Use Out of the Box — The Hollister Stoma Cone Irrigator Kit includes every core component of the irrigation system: the graduated irrigator bag, the stoma cone with snap connector, and the cleaning brush. Patients need only add an irrigator sleeve and a water source to complete the procedure. No searching for compatible components across multiple purchases.
  • Precise Flow Control via Regulator Clamp — The irrigation tubing includes a regulator clamp that allows the patient to start, stop, slow, or pause water flow at any point during the procedure. If cramping occurs — a common response to water flowing too quickly — closing the clamp allows the bowel to relax before flow resumes. This level of real-time control makes the procedure safer and more comfortable than systems without an adjustable clamp.
  • Secure Snap Connector — No Mid-Procedure Disconnects — The stoma cone attaches to the irrigation tubing via a secure snap connector, providing a reliable, leak-resistant connection throughout the procedure. Accidental disconnection mid-irrigation is disruptive and potentially messy; the snap-fit design minimizes that risk.
  • Easy-to-Read Volume Graduations — The irrigator bag features clearly marked volume graduations, allowing patients to fill the bag precisely to the amount specified by their healthcare provider. Consistent water volume from session to session supports a more predictable irrigation routine.
  • Stoma Cone Design — Prevents Backflow — The cone-shaped tip is designed to create a gentle, consistent seal at the stoma opening — directing water into the colon while preventing premature backflow before the irrigation volume is fully delivered. The cone can be inserted at varying angles to accommodate stoma position and ensure water flows properly.
  • Supports a Regulated Bowel Routine — Routine colostomy irrigation, performed consistently at the same time each day or every other day, can train the bowel to empty on a predictable schedule. For eligible colostomy patients, this may reduce or eliminate the need to wear a drainable pouch between irrigations, improving quality of life and confidence in daily activities. Use only under the guidance of a physician or Stoma Care Nurse.
  • Latex-Free — Safe for Latex-Sensitive Patients — The Hollister Stoma Cone Irrigator Kit is manufactured without natural rubber latex, making it appropriate for patients with a latex sensitivity or allergy — a meaningful consideration given that latex allergies are more prevalent among individuals with a history of repeated medical procedures.
  • Cleaning Brush Included for Ongoing Maintenance — The included cleaning brush allows patients to clean the irrigator tubing and cone thoroughly after each use, supporting hygiene and extending the usable life of the kit components.

Who Is Colostomy Irrigation For?

Appropriate For Not Appropriate For

How to Use the Hollister Stoma Cone Irrigator Kit

  1. Gather your supplies. You will need: this irrigator kit, an irrigator sleeve (sold separately), an ostomy belt if using a one-piece sleeve, water-soluble lubricant (optional), lukewarm water, and a replacement pouch or stoma cap for after the procedure.
  2. Close the regulator clamp on the irrigation tubing before filling the bag.
  3. Connect the stoma cone to the irrigation tubing using the snap connector until it clicks securely into place.
  4. Fill the irrigator bag with the amount of lukewarm water your healthcare provider has recommended. Use the volume graduations on the bag for accurate measurement.
  5. Hang the irrigator bag so the bottom of the bag is approximately at shoulder height when you are seated on or beside the toilet.
  6. Prime the tubing. Open the clamp briefly to allow a small amount of water to flow through the cone to remove air, then close the clamp again.
  7. Remove and discard your existing pouch or stoma cap.
  8. Attach your irrigator sleeve. For a one-piece sleeve, secure with an ostomy belt — snug enough for a watertight seal. For a two-piece sleeve, attach to your skin barrier flange. Place the end of the sleeve into the toilet.
  9. Position yourself comfortably on or beside the toilet. Open the top of the irrigator sleeve.
  10. Insert the cone gently into the stoma as instructed by your care team. If desired, apply water-soluble lubricant to the cone tip before insertion.
  11. Open the flow control clamp with your other hand to begin water flow. Hold the cone firmly against the stoma — firm enough to prevent leakage, but not forcefully. If water does not flow into the stoma, gently adjust the angle of the cone until flow begins.
  12. Adjust flow if needed. If cramping occurs, close the clamp and wait for the cramp to pass before resuming flow.
  13. Once all water has entered, remove the cone and close the top of the irrigator sleeve. Initial returns of water and stool will begin shortly.
  14. Allow approximately one hour for the full irrigation and return procedure to complete.
  15. After the procedure, clean the irrigator kit with the included cleaning brush, rinse thoroughly, and allow to air dry.
