ConvaTec Eakin Cohesive Seal — Moldable Pectin Ostomy Seal, No Sting, No Cutting, Full Lineup
Molds to your exact shape. Heals irritated skin. Replaces paste and rings in one step. The ConvaTec Eakin Cohesive Seal is one of the most clinically respected and widely used ostomy seals in the world — a moldable, pectin-based hydrocolloid donut-shaped barrier that forms a waterproof, absorptive seal between the stoma and the skin barrier, preventing leakage, protecting peristomal skin from output, and healing irritated or sore skin with each change. Unlike paste, the Eakin Seal requires no tube, no applicator, and no mess — peel the backing, mold to your exact body contour, press in place, and apply your barrier. No cutting needed. Will not lose adhesive quality through handling. No sting on sore skin. Compatible with virtually all ostomy systems and can replace many types of rings and pastes. Available in four variants — Slims (839005) for everyday use, Small (839002 / 126510) for maximum skin protection, Large (839003) for greatest coverage, and StomaWrap (839004) for large or oval stomas and limited dexterity. HCPCS A4407. FSA eligible.

Features & Benefits
- Molds to Any Shape — No Cutting, No Guessing — The Eakin Cohesive Seal is fully moldable by hand. Peel the backing, warm the seal slightly in your hands, and stretch, compress, or reshape it to fit your stoma's exact diameter — whether round, oval, irregular, retracted, or flush. No template, no scissors, no measuring. The seal conforms directly to the stoma edge and the skin contour around it, filling gaps and irregular surfaces as it is pressed into place. It will not lose its adhesive properties through handling — the more you work it, the better it fits.
- Waterproof Barrier — Stops Leakage at the Source — The most common point of ostomy system failure is the gap between the stoma edge and the inner opening of the skin barrier. Output that contacts this gap tracks under the barrier and contacts peristomal skin, causing chemical irritation, maceration, and eventual barrier failure. The Eakin Seal closes this gap with a waterproof, compressible hydrocolloid ring that blocks output from reaching that critical interface. Clinical studies confirm measurable reductions in peristomal skin complications when an Eakin Seal is used consistently.
- Heals Irritated & Sore Skin — Unlike paste and most ring seals, the Eakin Cohesive Seal is clinically documented to help heal irritated peristomal skin during wear. The pectin-based hydrocolloid formula maintains a moist wound-healing environment at the skin surface, supports a healthy pH balance, and absorbs irritating moisture and enzymes from the skin. Patients with sore, raw, or chronically irritated peristomal skin frequently experience meaningful improvement within days of switching to an Eakin Seal.
- No Sting — Including on Sore Skin — The Eakin Cohesive Seal contains no alcohol at any concentration. It can be applied directly to sore, raw, or recently irritated peristomal skin without any stinging sensation. This is clinically significant: patients with compromised peristomal skin often avoid paste and ring products because of pain on application, which allows the skin condition to worsen. The Eakin Seal's no-sting formula removes this barrier to consistent use.
- Replaces Paste, Rings, and Powder in One Product — For many patients, the Eakin Seal eliminates the need for separate paste and ring accessories — the seal fills the stoma-barrier gap, conforms to skin irregularities, absorbs moisture, and protects the skin in a single product. Fewer accessories means a simpler pouch change routine, fewer supplies to manage, and often a lower overall accessory cost per change.
- Four Variants — One for Every Situation — The Slims (839005) are the thinnest at 1/8" — ideal for everyday use, frequent changers, and patients with mild skin irregularities who want extra security without bulk. The Small (839002 / 126510) is thicker at 1/6" (4.2mm) — the extra thickness provides more fill volume for deeper gaps, more moisture absorption for high-output stomas, and gentle convexity for flush or retracted stomas. The Large (839003) covers a 4" area — designed for complex peristomal skin problems, large stomas, and fistula or wound applications requiring extended coverage. The StomaWrap (839004) is a wrap-format seal for large or oval stomas and patients with limited hand dexterity who find ring formats difficult to place accurately.
- Latex-Free · FSA Eligible — Not made with natural rubber latex. Purchase with Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account funds.

Bottom line: Both are excellent moldable ostomy seals. Choose the Eakin Cohesive Seal when skin healing is a priority — the pectin formula has clinical evidence for reducing peristomal skin complications and actively supporting skin recovery. Choose the Brava Mouldable Ring when erosion resistance and maximum durability against liquid output dissolution are the top priorities. If you use a ConvaTec system, the Eakin Seal is the matched choice — both products work with any brand.
How to Apply the Eakin Cohesive Seal
- Clean and dry the peristomal skin as thoroughly as possible before application.
- Remove the seal from its individual packaging. Peel the release paper from both surfaces.
- Warm the seal briefly in your hands — 15–30 seconds of handling makes the material more pliable and easier to mold.
- Mold, roll, stretch, or compress the seal to fit your stoma shape and peristomal skin contour. The seal can be cut and rejoined if needed to navigate difficult body sites. It will not lose adhesive quality during this process.
- Gently apply the seal to the skin around the stoma with light pressure. Hold for approximately 30 seconds. Smooth the seal toward the stoma base to ensure a tight seal at the edge closest to the stoma.
- Apply the ostomy pouching system directly over the seal surface and press firmly into place.
Combining Seals: Different shapes and sizes can be combined when skin is very irregular or extra protection is needed — for example, a Slim around the stoma opening with a Small placed over it for additional fill volume and coverage. Ask your ostomy nurse or call us for guidance. 866-218-0902
Removal: Gently peel the pouching system and seal from the skin together. The Eakin Seal will not harm the skin on removal. Any residue remaining can be removed by gently rolling and peeling it from the skin — no adhesive remover required in most cases.
