Torbot Skin-Tac Liquid Adhesive Barrier — Tacky Skin Prep for Ostomy, Tapes & Medical Devices
Sticks better. Lasts longer. Protects skin while it holds. Torbot Skin-Tac Liquid Adhesive Barrier is a dual-action skin prep solution that creates a tacky adhesive layer on the skin to improve the hold of ostomy appliances, medical tapes, wound dressings, infusion sets, and compression stockings — while simultaneously forming a protective barrier between the adhesive and the skin to reduce irritation. The 78–82% isopropyl alcohol formula dries quickly, leaving a thin, flexible, clear film that conforms to body movement and stays comfortable all day. Benzoin-free. Hypoallergenic. Latex-free. Available in a 4 oz bottle (SKU MS407) and 8 oz bottle (SKU MS407-B). Flammable — cannot ship overnight. Also available as individually wrapped wipes (SKU MS407-W).

Features & Benefits
- Dual Action — Adhesion AND Skin Protection — Most skin prep products do one thing: improve adhesion. Skin-Tac does both. It deposits a tacky film that acts as a primer layer between the skin and the medical adhesive — the adhesive bonds to the Skin-Tac film rather than directly to skin. This improves hold strength and wear time while simultaneously protecting the skin surface from the chemical and mechanical stress of repeated adhesive application and removal. For patients who change ostomy appliances or wound dressings frequently, this dual action meaningfully reduces peristomal or periwound skin breakdown over time.
- Benzoin-Free — Better Tolerated on Sensitive Skin — Traditional tincture of benzoin products are effective skin prep agents but contain benzoin resin, a known sensitizer — repeated use can trigger allergic contact dermatitis, particularly in patients already managing compromised peristomal skin. Skin-Tac delivers equivalent or superior tackiness without benzoin, making it the clinically preferred choice for patients with sensitive skin or a history of reactions to benzoin-containing products.
- Fast-Drying Tacky Film — The isopropyl alcohol carrier evaporates rapidly after application, leaving the tacky protective film behind within seconds. No extended wait time before applying the barrier or dressing — a meaningful advantage for patients managing multiple steps in a pouching system change.
- Flexible — Moves With the Body — The thin film conforms to contours and flexes with skin movement throughout the day. Rigid skin prep films can crack at flex points and break the adhesive seal. Skin-Tac's flexible film maintains contact at the skin interface regardless of activity level.
- Versatile — Works With Everything You Stick to Skin — Ostomy appliances, wound dressings, border dressings, medical tape, infusion set adhesives, CGM sensors, compression stocking adhesion — Skin-Tac improves the hold and protects the skin across the full range of adhesive medical applications. It is not an ostomy-only product.
- Economical Liquid Format — Best Value for Regular Use — The 4 oz and 8 oz liquid bottles offer significantly more applications per dollar compared to individually wrapped wipes, making the liquid format the practical choice for patients who use Skin-Tac at every pouch change or dressing application. The 8 oz bottle is ideal for high-volume home or clinical use. Many patients keep the liquid at home and wipes (MS407-W) for travel.
- Removes Easily — Skin-Tac film lifts cleanly with standard adhesive remover wipes or isopropyl alcohol — no specialized removal products required. Routine skin cleansing before the next appliance change is sufficient for most patients.
Skin-Tac Liquid vs. Skin-Tac Wipes — Which Format Is Right for You?
| Feature | Skin-Tac Liquid (MS407 / MS407-B) | Skin-Tac Wipes (MS407-W) |
|---|---|---|
| Format | Liquid bottle — applied with applicator, gauze, or fingers | Individually wrapped single-use wipes |
| Best For | High-volume home or clinical use · Most economical per application | Travel · Hygienic single-use preference · Clinical trays |
| Portability | Less portable — open bottle | Excellent — compact individual packets |
| Shipping Restriction | Flammable — cannot ship overnight | None — ships standard |
| Formula | Same — isopropyl alcohol base, tacky film | Same — isopropyl alcohol base, tacky film |
| Cost Per Use | More economical for frequent use | Slightly higher per application |
Bottom line: Same formula, same result. Choose liquid if you use Skin-Tac at every pouch change and want the most economical format. Choose wipes for travel, convenience, or hygienic single-use preference. Many patients keep the liquid at home and wipes in their travel kit.
How to Use Skin-Tac Liquid Adhesive Barrier
- Clean and dry the skin surface thoroughly before application. Remove any existing adhesive residue.
- Apply Skin-Tac to the skin area where the ostomy appliance, tape, or dressing will be placed. Use the included applicator, a piece of gauze, or your fingers to spread the liquid evenly across the full adhesion area.
- Allow to dry briefly. The alcohol carrier evaporates quickly, leaving a clear, tacky, protective film on the skin. The skin will feel slightly sticky — this is normal and expected.
- Apply the skin barrier, tape, or dressing as normal. Press firmly to ensure full contact with the Skin-Tac film.
- To remove: apply adhesive remover wipes or isopropyl alcohol to the skin around the adhesive edge and peel back slowly. The Skin-Tac film will lift cleanly.
Warning: Product is flammable. Keep away from open flame. If exposed to the eye, rinse with water and seek medical attention. If ingested, contact Poison Control or your physician immediately. Cannot ship via overnight or air freight.
