Frequently Asked Questions

What French size catheter do I need?

French (Fr) size refers to the outer diameter of the catheter — 1 Fr equals 0.33mm. Most adults use 14Fr or 16Fr. Pediatric and female patients may use 6Fr–12Fr. Your prescribing clinician will specify the correct French size for your anatomy and clinical need. Call us at 1-866-218-0902 with questions about specific sizes in stock.

Do I need a prescription for a urinary catheter?

Most intermittent catheters require a prescription. External catheters, drainage bags, leg bag straps, urinals, and most urological accessories do not. Fax your prescription to (941) 488-0011. Call us to confirm requirements for any specific product.

Are catheters FSA eligible?

Yes — most intermittent catheters, external catheters, and drainage bags are FSA and HSA eligible. FSA eligibility is noted on individual product pages. Call 1-866-218-0902 with questions.

What is the difference between a straight tip and coudé tip catheter?

A straight tip catheter has a blunt, round end for standard urethral anatomy. A coudé tip has a curved or angled tip designed to navigate around an enlarged prostate or urethral obstruction in male patients. Your clinician will recommend the appropriate tip style based on your anatomy and catheterization history.
