3M Cavilon Advanced Skin Protectant — No-Removal Waterproof Barrier Film, Up to 7-Day Wear | SKU 5050, 5051
An elastomeric cyanoacrylate barrier that bonds directly to wet, weeping, or dry skin and forms a waterproof, flexible, transparent protective film. Unlike paste-based barriers, Cavilon Advanced does not require removal — it wears off naturally and lasts up to 7 days per application. Effective for IAD prevention and management, peristomal and peritube skin protection, and periwound protection. Single-use applicator reduces cross-contamination risk. Formerly 3M — now Solventum. FSA/HSA eligible. Hypoallergenic. Latex free.

How to Apply
- Cleanse and dry the skin thoroughly before application
- Hold the applicator with the sponge tip pointed downward
- Depress the lever firmly to break the internal ampule — listen for a snap or pop
- Keep the applicator pointed downward for ~10 seconds to allow fluid to saturate the sponge
- Apply with a gentle, even sweeping motion across the affected area
- Allow to dry for at least 30 seconds — separate skin folds for 30 seconds to dry completely
- Wait an additional 60 seconds before applying adhesive dressings or tape
The film does not require removal and will wear off naturally. If early removal is needed, use an adhesive remover containing hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDS) or silicone polymer.
