What Makes AMERIGEL Different
Standard hydrogels add moisture and stop there. AMERIGEL's formula does considerably more — and it starts with Oakin®, a proprietary oak bark extract that inhibits 51 types of bacteria including MRSA, VRE, and Staph without using antibiotics. For patients with known allergies to common triple antibiotic products, AMERIGEL is often the first safe and effective alternative their physician reaches for. The polyethylene glycol base sustains moisture longer than glycerin or saline-based gels — and uniquely, it liquefies at body temperature, allowing it to migrate across all wound surfaces for consistent coverage even in irregular wound beds.
- Oakin® oak extract inhibits 51 bacteria including MRSA, VRE, and Staph — no antibiotics needed
- Meadowsweet extract helps remove harmful wound debris and supports tissue repair
- Zinc acetate reduces inflammation and supports cellular wound healing
- Liquefies at body temperature — migrates across all wound surfaces for complete coverage
- Sustains moisture longer than standard glycerin or saline-based hydrogels
- Non-cytotoxic — safe for direct contact with healthy tissue surrounding the wound
- Antibiotic-free — eliminates the risk of antibiotic sensitivity reactions
- Reduces potential for scarring — rated #1 by podiatric physicians for nail surgery aftercare since 2003
- Note: wound may appear to drain more and look deeper in the first few days — this is normal. Wounds heal from the inside out and will become shallower
How to Apply
- Cleanse the wound with AMERIGEL Wound Wash or saline and blot dry
- Apply a thin layer of AMERIGEL directly to the wound surface and the skin immediately surrounding the wound
- Cover with a moistened gauze bandage
- Change the dressing once or twice daily
- Do not use peroxide, iodine, or alcohol on chronic wounds that have existed for more than 90 days
- For best results use AMERIGEL Wound Wash as the companion cleanser
1 oz. vs. 3 oz. — Which Size Is Right?
- 1 oz. Tube (A2001) — Ideal for smaller wounds, post-surgical nail care, and short-term treatment. 12 per case makes it a practical facility or practice stock item
- 3 oz. Tube (A2003) — Best value for larger wounds, ongoing home care, or chronic wounds requiring consistent long-term application
