Description

Coloplast Brava Ostomy Paste with Pectin — Low-Alcohol, Sting-Free, 2 oz Tube with Key, SKU 12050

Pectin-based. Low-alcohol. Includes a tube key so nothing goes to waste. Coloplast Brava Ostomy Paste with Pectin is a low-alcohol, pectin-based barrier paste used to fill skin folds, creases, scars, and uneven surfaces around the stoma — creating a flat, even pouching surface for improved skin barrier adhesion and leak prevention. The low-alcohol formula significantly reduces stinging compared to standard-alcohol pastes, making it a comfortable everyday option for patients with sensitive or mildly irritated peristomal skin. The pectin base provides a skin-friendly, hydrocolloid-compatible fill that works in harmony with the adhesive chemistry of major brand barriers. A tube key is included — the flat metal winding tool that rolls the tube from the bottom as it empties, ensuring every last drop is used and none is wasted. Easy, residue-free removal with lukewarm water. Latex-free. HCPCS A4406. FSA eligible. SKU 12050. 2 oz tube. Each or Box of 10.

Features & Benefits

  • Low-Alcohol — Meaningfully Less Stinging — Standard ostomy pastes use alcohol as part of their formula, and alcohol on peristomal skin stings — particularly when skin is sensitive, mildly irritated, or recovering from output exposure. Coloplast Brava Paste with Pectin uses a low-alcohol formula that significantly reduces this stinging sensation while retaining the paste's handling and sealing properties. For patients who have experienced discomfort with other pastes, this formulation makes daily paste use more comfortable and supports consistent compliance at every barrier change.
  • Pectin-Based — Hydrocolloid Compatible — Pectin is the same hydrocolloid base used in premium ostomy skin barriers. A pectin-based paste is biochemically compatible with the barrier adhesive, meaning the paste works with — not against — the barrier's own adhesive bond. Applied as a filler into skin folds or as a ring around the stoma opening, the paste integrates with the barrier interface and supports a more complete, durable seal than foam or non-hydrocolloid fillers.
  • Fills Folds, Creases, Scars & Uneven Skin — The most common cause of barrier leakage is not center adhesive failure — it is output tracking under the barrier through gaps created by skin folds, wrinkles, scars, or surgical contours around the stoma. Brava Paste fills these irregularities before barrier application, creating the flat, even pouching surface that allows the barrier to seal completely against the skin. Properly filled gaps mean fewer leaks and better protection of peristomal skin from output contact.
  • Tube Key Included — Nothing Wasted — The 12050 tube includes a metal tube key — the flat winding tool that rolls the bottom of the tube upward as it empties, pushing all paste toward the opening. Ostomy paste used at every barrier change adds up over time — getting every last drop out of each tube represents meaningful savings over months of use. Most paste tubes are discarded with usable product remaining; the tube key prevents this entirely.
  • Easy, Residue-Free Removal — Brava Paste lifts cleanly from the skin with lukewarm water and a soft washcloth. Unlike some pastes that leave a sticky, difficult-to-remove residue, the 12050 formula releases easily — reducing skin trauma during the removal process. Any paste residue that remains after cleaning is clean and safe to leave in place for the next barrier application.
  • Compatible With All Major Barrier Brands — Brava Paste with Pectin is not restricted to Coloplast systems. It works effectively with barriers from Hollister, ConvaTec, and all other major manufacturers. No brand matching required.

Bottom line: Both are excellent low-alcohol, pectin-based pastes that work across all brands. The 12050 includes a tube key for zero-waste emptying — a practical advantage. The Adapt Paste 79300 offers a travel-size 0.5 oz option (79301) for patients who need a smaller format on the go. If you use a Coloplast system, the 12050 is the matched choice. Both work equally well with any barrier brand.

How to Use Brava Ostomy Paste with Pectin

  1. Clean and dry peristomal skin thoroughly before application.
  2. Apply the paste directly from the tube onto skin folds, creases, or uneven areas around the stoma — OR apply a ring of paste around the inner edge of the skin barrier on the adhesive side before placing it.
  3. Do not spread paste across the entire barrier adhesive surface — apply only to specific gaps and irregular areas.
  4. If needed, smooth the paste with a moistened finger to level it with the surrounding skin.
  5. Apply the skin barrier and press firmly from the stoma outward with palm pressure for 30–60 seconds.
  6. After use, wipe the tube tip clean with a tissue and recap tightly to prevent moisture contact.
  7. Use the tube key to roll the bottom of the tube toward the opening as the tube empties — ensuring full use of all paste.

Removal: Brava Paste residue cleans off with lukewarm water and a washcloth. Residue that remains after gentle cleaning does not need to be fully removed before the next application.
