- Coloplast paste may be applied directly from the tube onto the skin by forming a ring of paste around the stoma.
- - Alternatively, it may be applied directly to the skin barrier in a ring around the opening on the skin barrier which has been cut to fit the stoma.
- If needed, level the paste by gently smoothing using a moistened finger or spatula.
- With deep depressions it is advisable to layer the paste allowing 30 seconds between each application.
- Whichever method is chosen, after applying the barrier seal secure it around the stoma by pressing with a finger.
- Recap the tube tightly immediately after use in order to prevent the paste drying and hardening. For 2-piece users only Re-sealing between bag changes.
- It is possible to reseal around the stoma by placing a ring of paste close to the stoma. Level out the ring slightly to secure a proper seal. Then apply a new bag.
- The paste is easily removed and will peel away with the skin barrier. A residue of paste can be left on the skin to apply a new bag or can be removed with lukewarm water and a wash cloth. It is better to leave a slight residue than to irritate the skin by scrubbing off all the residue.
