Description

Coloplast Skin Barrier Rings — Solid Hydrocolloid, Pre-Cut, Self-Adhesive, Stoma & Wound Protection, Box of 30

Solid hydrocolloid. Pre-cut. Self-adhesive on both sides. Ready to apply in seconds. Coloplast Skin Barrier Rings are pre-cut, ring-shaped solid hydrocolloid skin barriers used to protect the skin surrounding stomas, fistulas, and draining wounds from exposure to output and moisture. The self-adhesive, breathable hydrocolloid material adheres securely to both intact and moist skin — no additional paste or prep required. Each ring is pre-cut to a fixed stoma opening size, with the outer ring providing a skin-protective hydrocolloid layer between the peristomal skin and stoma output, and the adhesive bonding securely to both the skin and the overlying ostomy barrier. Flat ring shape. No flange. Universal system — compatible with any brand of one-piece or two-piece ostomy appliance. Beige. Available in multiple stoma opening sizes — 3/4" (SKU 3600) and 1" (SKU 3601) standard stock; additional sizes 3/8" through 2" available as special order. Box of 30. HCPCS A4404. FSA eligible.

Features & Benefits

  • Solid Hydrocolloid — Protects and Absorbs — Solid hydrocolloid is the gold-standard material for peristomal and periwound skin protection. It creates a physical barrier between the skin and stoma output, absorbs moisture and exudate from the skin surface to maintain a drier skin environment, and maintains its structural integrity during wear without softening into a liquid that fails to protect. The ring sits directly against the peristomal skin, shielding it from the enzymatic and chemical irritation that stoma output causes on unprotected skin — the primary driver of peristomal skin breakdown and a key cause of barrier seal failure.
  • Self-Adhesive — Adheres to Dry or Moist Skin — Standard barrier products require dry, well-prepped skin to adhere properly. Coloplast Skin Barrier Rings use a self-adhesive hydrocolloid that bonds reliably to both dry and moist skin surfaces — a meaningful clinical advantage for patients with persistently moist peristomal skin, sweating skin, or skin that cannot be fully dried between pouch changes. No additional paste, spray, or primer is required for the ring to adhere and perform.
  • Pre-Cut — Ready to Apply Immediately — Each ring is pre-cut to its labeled stoma opening size and requires no cutting, shaping, or preparation before application. Remove from packaging, peel the backing, center over the stoma, and press into place. The pre-cut format eliminates the cutting error and inconsistency that affects cut-to-fit barrier sheets and saves time at every pouch change.
  • Breathable — Comfortable Through Extended Wear — The hydrocolloid material allows moisture vapor to pass through — the skin breathes during wear rather than being occluded under an impermeable film. This breathability reduces skin maceration risk during extended wear periods and improves overall comfort for patients who wear their pouching system for 3–5 days at a time.
  • Universal System — Works With Any Brand — The flangeless, ring-only design makes these barrier rings compatible with any one-piece or two-piece ostomy system from any manufacturer. No brand matching, no flange size coordination — the ring sits on the skin under any barrier that fits over the stoma opening.
  • Stoma, Fistula & Wound Use — While most commonly used for ostomy stoma protection, Coloplast Skin Barrier Rings are also appropriate for protecting skin around enterocutaneous fistulas and draining wounds — any situation where fluid output contacts the periwound or peristomal skin and a protective, absorptive barrier ring is clinically indicated.
  • Multiple Sizes — Including Special Order — Standard sizes 3/4" and 1" cover the majority of adult stoma profiles. For non-standard stoma sizes from 3/8" to 2", additional sizes are available as special orders. Call us to confirm availability and lead time. 866-218-0902

Used Together? Yes — skin barrier ring under the wafer for protection, mouldable ring at the stoma opening for gap sealing. Both can be used at the same change.

Bottom line: The Skin Barrier Ring is primarily a skin protection product — it shields peristomal skin from output contact. The Brava Mouldable Ring is primarily a seal and gap-fill product — it fills the space between the stoma edge and the barrier to prevent output from tracking under. They serve complementary functions and can be used together. If skin protection from output is the priority — reach for the Skin Barrier Ring. If preventing leakage at the stoma-barrier gap is the priority — reach for the Mouldable Ring.

How to Apply Coloplast Skin Barrier Rings

  1. Measure your stoma and confirm the correct ring opening size before applying. The ring opening should match your stoma diameter closely — if between sizes, select the next size up.
  2. Clean and dry the peristomal skin as thoroughly as possible.
  3. Remove the ring from its packaging and peel the backing from the adhesive side.
  4. Center the ring opening over the stoma and press the adhesive side firmly onto the peristomal skin. Smooth outward from the stoma edge to ensure full contact with no air pockets.
  5. Apply the ostomy barrier over the skin barrier ring, aligning the barrier opening with the stoma and ring. Press firmly into place with palm pressure outward from the stoma for 30–60 seconds.

Removal: The ring typically lifts with the barrier when the pouch is changed. Any residue remaining on the skin can be cleaned with warm water. An adhesive remover can be used for faster, more comfortable removal on sensitive skin.
