ConvaTec ActiveLife One-Piece Urostomy Pouch — Flat Durahesive Pre-Cut Barrier, Accuseal Tap | SKU 650828–650833
A lightweight, flexible one-piece urostomy pouching system with a flat pre-cut Durahesive skin barrier permanently attached. Designed for urostomy patients with normally protruding stomas and liquid output. Durahesive adhesive swells gently around the stoma to form a secure turtlenecking seal, protecting peristomal skin from urine. Extended anti-reflux valve prevents urine from flowing back toward the stoma when bending or lying down. Accuseal tap with valve at the bottom allows easy, controlled emptying and connects directly to night drainage. 8" transparent pouch with one-sided comfort panel. Available in 6 pre-cut stoma sizes. Sold in 10/pack and 200/case. Latex free. FSA eligible.

How to Apply
- Cleanse peristomal skin with mild soap and water (oil-, cream-, and aloe-free). Do not use baby wipes. Pat thoroughly dry.
- Select the pre-cut pouch matching your stoma size. Do not enlarge the pre-cut opening.
- Before applying, make sure the Accuseal tap is fully closed.
- Optionally apply Stomahesive Paste or Eakin Cohesive Paste to the back of the barrier to fill gaps. Allow paste to sit one minute before applying.
- Remove the white release paper from the barrier. Center over the stoma and press firmly against skin for 30 seconds.
- Remove tape collar backing one side at a time and smooth flat.
- Note: The Durahesive barrier will visibly swell around the stoma — this is normal turtlenecking function and will not harm the stoma or block urine flow.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between this flat urostomy pouch and the ActiveLife Convex Urostomy Pouch (SKU 175790–175798)?
Both are one-piece pre-cut Durahesive urostomy pouches — same barrier formula, same Accuseal tap, same 8" pouch length and anti-reflux valve. The critical difference is the barrier profile. This product (650828–650833) has a flat barrier, designed for urostomy stomas that protrude normally above the skin surface. The convex version (175790–175798) has built-in CONVEX-IT technology that applies gentle inward pressure, designed for stomas that are recessed, flush, or flat. Using convex on a protruding stoma is unnecessary and can cause pressure injury. Using flat on a recessed stoma will result in leakage. Always confirm your stoma profile with your stoma care nurse before ordering.
What is the Accuseal tap and how is it different from a fold-over tap?
The Accuseal tap is a valved drain tap at the bottom of the pouch that opens and closes with a simple push-pull motion. It is designed for easy one-handed manipulation and provides a secure valve seal when closed. It also accepts direct connection to a night drainage bag tube without an adapter. A fold-over tap (used on other ActiveLife urostomy models) requires folding the pouch end over a clip — both work well, but the Accuseal tap is often preferred by patients who need easier, quicker drainage with less dexterity required.
What is the extended anti-reflux valve and why does it matter?
The anti-reflux valve inside the pouch is a one-way flap that allows urine to flow into the bottom of the pouch but prevents it from flowing back up toward the stoma when the pouch is full, when bending, or when lying down. Without this valve, urine pooling near the stoma can erode the barrier from the inside, shortening wear time and causing peristomal skin irritation. The "extended" anti-reflux valve in this pouch reaches deeper into the pouch than standard valves for more reliable backflow prevention.
How do I connect this pouch to a night drainage bag?
Open the Accuseal tap and insert the tubing from a compatible night drainage bag directly into the tap outlet. The valve allows connection without needing a separate adapter. For secure overnight drainage, position the night bag below the level of the stoma pouch to allow passive gravity drainage. Empty the night bag each morning before disconnecting.
The barrier swells around my stoma — is this normal?
Yes — this is the turtlenecking effect of Durahesive adhesive and it is intentional. As the barrier absorbs urine from the stoma edge, the hydrocolloid material swells inward, closing gaps and forming a tighter seal progressively throughout the wear period. The swelling will not harm the stoma or block urine flow even if the opening appears completely surrounded by barrier material.
