The filter is designed to maintain airflow even after becoming soiled, and the membrane helps prevent liquid from leaking through the filter opening.

Do I need to use the filter cover?

The filter cover should be applied whenever the pouch will be submerged or heavily exposed to water — bathing, showering, or swimming. Water can saturate the filter membrane and temporarily reduce its effectiveness. The waterproof cover protects the filter during water exposure. After bathing, pat the pouch dry and remove the cover to allow the filter to resume normal function. Do not leave the cover on during regular dry wear as this blocks the filter entirely.
