Kendall Tenderwrap Unna Boot Bandage — Non-Hardening Zinc Oxide, Gelatin-Free, 3" & 4" x 10 Yards
Equally impregnated throughout. Gelatin-free. Made in the USA. The Kendall Tenderwrap Unna Boot Bandage (Covidien / Curity) is a trusted clinical-grade compression dressing of soft, non-raveling 100% cotton gauze evenly impregnated with a non-hardening zinc oxide paste — delivering firm, consistent compression therapy for venous stasis ulcers and a wide range of lower extremity conditions. Unlike standard Unna boots where paste concentration can vary across the roll, Tenderwrap's equal impregnation throughout the full length of the bandage ensures consistent compression and paste delivery from the first wrap to the last. The gelatin-free formulation stays flexible and comfortable throughout the wear period, encouraging patient ambulation and compliance. Available with or without calamine in 3-inch and 4-inch widths, sold individually or by the case of 12.
✔ Equally Impregnated Throughout — Consistent Compression & Paste Delivery ✔ Non-Hardening Zinc Oxide — Flexible, Ambulatory-Friendly ✔ Gelatin-Free & Preservative-Free ✔ Soft Non-Raveling 100% Cotton — Conforms to Leg Contours ✔ Made in the USA

Features & Benefits
- Equally Impregnated Throughout — A defining feature of Tenderwrap is that the zinc oxide paste is evenly distributed across the full length and width of the bandage — not concentrated at the surface or in certain sections of the roll. This equal impregnation ensures that every layer of the applied boot delivers consistent paste contact and compression from toe to knee, preventing uneven therapy that can occur when paste-heavy or paste-light sections of a bandage are applied at different points on the leg
- Non-Hardening Zinc Oxide Paste — Tenderwrap's zinc oxide paste formulation maintains a moist, pliable consistency throughout the full wear period — typically 5 to 7 days. Patients can ambulate comfortably without the rigid, cast-like stiffening that characterizes older gelatin-based Unna boot formulations, which improves compliance and supports the venous pump mechanism that walking provides during compression therapy
- Gelatin-Free — Preservative-Free — The elimination of gelatin removes both the primary cause of bandage hardening and the need for preservatives that are typically required to stabilize gelatin-based paste. Preservative-free formulation reduces the risk of adverse skin reactions and contact sensitivity — particularly important for patients with chronic venous disease receiving ongoing weekly compression dressing changes
- Soft Non-Raveling Cotton Gauze — Conforms to Leg Contours — Tenderwrap's 100% cotton gauze is soft, flexible, and non-raveling — conforming closely to the contours of the ankle, heel, and lower leg for a smooth, comfortable fit without gaps, ridges, or loose threads that can cause pressure injury or wound entanglement
- Calamine Option — Relief from Pain and Itching — The calamine formula (8035, 8036) adds a calamine component to the zinc oxide paste that provides soothing relief from pain and itching — particularly valuable for venous stasis ulcers with moist desquamation, eczema of the leg, weeping or inflamed periwound skin, and conditions such as poison ivy, oak, or sumac
- Made in the USA — Tenderwrap Unna Boot is proudly manufactured in the United States — supporting domestic production of clinical-grade compression dressings for the wound care market
- Firm, Even Compression Therapy — Equal impregnation combined with the cotton gauze construction delivers firm, consistent compression across the full applied surface — appropriate for the ambulatory venous compression therapy required to reduce venous hypertension and support leg ulcer healing
Clinical Indications
- Venous stasis leg ulcers — especially with moist desquamation
- Lymphatic edema of the lower extremity
- Thrombophlebitis — supportive compression
- Sprains, strains, and dislocations of the foot and ankle
- Eczema of the leg and chronic lower extremity dermatitis
- Varicose ulcers requiring protection and support
- Skin grafts on burn wounds — protective compression
- Poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac — oozing and weeping (calamine formula)

Clinical guidance: The calamine formula is the most commonly used Tenderwrap formulation in venous ulcer management — the added soothing and anti-pruritic properties address the itch and irritation that frequently accompany chronic venous disease and periwound skin breakdown. Consult your facility's wound care protocol for formula selection guidance.
Application Overview
- Cleanse and prepare the wound and periwound skin per facility or clinician protocol
- Beginning at the base of the toes, apply Tenderwrap in a spiral or figure-eight pattern, working up the leg to just below the knee
- Apply with even, moderate tension — overlap each layer by approximately 50% for consistent paste distribution and compression coverage
- For heavily draining wounds, add an absorbent undercast roll as a secondary layer beneath or over the Tenderwrap boot
- Cover with a cohesive or short-stretch outer compression bandage to secure and complete the compression system
- Change per clinician order — typically once or twice per week, or sooner if saturated, loose, or if the patient reports increased pain or discomfort
Important: Assess arterial circulation before application — do not apply to patients with significant arterial insufficiency. Application and change schedule must be directed by a qualified clinician.
