Which height to choose: Standard toilet seats sit 15"–17" from the floor. Adding 2" brings the seat to 17"–19" — a modest improvement for comfort. Adding 4" brings it to 19"–21" — recommended for post-hip or knee surgery where sitting below the hip crease is prohibited, and for users with significant difficulty sitting or standing. When in doubt, the 4" is more commonly prescribed for medical use.

How to Attach — 4 Steps
- Lift your existing toilet seat lid and seat up. Place the DMI cushion on top of the toilet seat with the vinyl side up — centered over the seat opening.
- Route the four hook-and-loop straps under the toilet seat edges — two on each side. The straps reach around the toilet seat rim from above to below.
- Press the hook-and-loop surfaces together firmly on each strap — pulling snug so the cushion sits flat without gaps between the cushion and the seat.
- Lower the toilet seat back down over the cushion. Sit and verify the cushion does not shift. Adjust strap tension if needed. Done.

DMI Vinyl Cushion vs Standard Raised Toilet Seat
The DMI Vinyl Cushion is not the same as a standard raised toilet seat — and knowing the difference prevents buying the wrong product:
- DMI Vinyl Cushion (this product): Adds padding AND a small amount of height. Sits on top of the existing toilet seat. Best when the primary need is comfort padding with mild elevation (2") or moderate elevation (4"). Does not lock to the toilet bowl — anchors only to the seat rim via straps. No arms.
- Standard raised toilet seat: Typically hard plastic. Attaches to the toilet bowl rim (not the seat). Available in higher elevations (3"–6") with locking mechanisms. Arms available on some models. Better choice when significant height elevation, bowl-level security, or arm assist is clinically required.
