Gehrung Pessary With Support — Malleable, 9 Sizes, Simultaneously Treats Cystocele, Rectocele & Third-Degree Prolapse
Individually shaped. Front and back support. One pessary for complex multi-compartment prolapse. The Gehrung Pessary With Support is a highly flexible, malleable pessary with internal wires that allow the clinician to manually shape and contour it to the individual patient's anatomy. It is designed to provide simultaneous support for cystocele, rectocele, and third-degree uterine prolapse — making it one of the few pessary designs that directly addresses both anterior and posterior vaginal wall compartment defects at the same time. The included support membrane adds structural reinforcement, particularly beneficial for patients with concurrent cystocele alongside posterior compartment involvement. Like the Hodge pessary, the Gehrung's internal wire construction enables individualized contouring beyond what any fixed-shape pessary can provide. Available in 9 sizes and disinfectable for ongoing reuse under clinical supervision. Rx required.
✔ Manually Shapeable — Internal Wires Allow Individual Anatomical Contouring

Indicated For — Conditions Treated
- Cystocele — anterior vaginal wall prolapse (bladder herniation); the Gehrung's shape and support membrane provide targeted anterior compartment reinforcement
- Rectocele — posterior vaginal wall prolapse (rectal herniation); the Gehrung simultaneously supports the posterior compartment — a key clinical advantage over most other pessary types
- Third-degree uterine prolapse — the Gehrung supports advanced uterine prolapse in addition to the concurrent anterior and posterior compartment defects commonly associated with it
- Multi-compartment prolapse — patients with combined cystocele and rectocele alongside uterine prolapse represent the Gehrung's ideal clinical scenario, where a single pessary addresses all three simultaneously
- Patients requiring individually contoured fit — the malleable wire construction allows the clinician to adapt the pessary shape to the patient's specific anatomy in a way fixed-shape pessaries cannot
Note: Pessary fitting and ongoing management should be performed or supervised by a qualified healthcare professional. A Pessary Sizing Chart is available for clinical reference. This product is Rx only — a valid prescription or professional license is required prior to shipment.
How It Works — Malleable Design & Multi-Compartment Support
The Gehrung Pessary is one of two malleable pessary designs in the EvaCare lineup — the other being the Hodge — and like the Hodge, its defining feature is internal wires that allow the clinician to manually bend and shape the pessary before or during fitting to better conform to individual patient anatomy. Where the Gehrung differs fundamentally from the Hodge is in its intended anatomical target: while the Hodge is primarily designed for uterine prolapse and retro displacement, the Gehrung is specifically shaped and positioned to provide support to both the anterior vaginal wall (cystocele) and the posterior vaginal wall (rectocele) simultaneously — while also addressing third-degree uterine prolapse. This multi-compartment support capability makes the Gehrung uniquely suited for patients with complex combined prolapse presentations that a standard ring, donut, or cube pessary cannot address as comprehensively.
The Gehrung is available with support only — the included support membrane adds anterior structural reinforcement that is clinically appropriate given the cystocele indication. The internal wire construction gives the clinician the ability to adjust the pessary's shape during the fitting exam to optimize anterior and posterior wall contact for the individual patient's anatomy and prolapse pattern. The pessary's high flexibility and moldability also ease insertion — the clinician can compress or reshape the pessary to pass the introitus more comfortably before allowing it to expand into position. Disinfectable for ongoing reuse under clinical supervision.
| Pessary Type | Best For |
|---|---|
| Gehrung Pessary | Combined cystocele + rectocele + third-degree prolapse; multi-compartment prolapse requiring individually contoured simultaneous anterior and posterior support |
| Hodge Pessary | First and mild second-degree uterine prolapse; retro displacement; incompetent cervix; reproductive-aged women; malleable fit without the multi-compartment profile |
| Cube Pessary | Third-degree prolapse and procidentia with minimal introital support; self-retaining via suction rather than malleable shaping |
- Internal wire construction — clinician manually shapes pessary to individual anatomy for optimized anterior and posterior wall contact
- Simultaneously supports cystocele and rectocele alongside third-degree uterine prolapse — multi-compartment coverage in a single pessary
- Support membrane included — adds anterior structural reinforcement for cystocele alongside the malleable frame
- Highly flexible and moldable — pessary can be compressed or reshaped to ease introital passage during insertion
- Well suited for complex combined prolapse presentations where fixed-shape pessaries are insufficient
- Disinfectable — supports ongoing reuse under clinical supervision
- 9 sizes provide a wide range of fitting options alongside the malleable adjustment capability
- A Pessary Sizing Chart is available — ring size from the fitting set translates to Gehrung size via the cross-reference chart
Size Guide — Gehrung Pessary, 9 Sizes
The Gehrung Pessary is available in 9 sizes. Because the pessary is also manually shapeable, size selection works in conjunction with the clinician's ability to contour the pessary during fitting for optimal anterior and posterior wall contact. A Pessary Sizing Chart is available for clinical sizing reference — ring size from the EvaCare Fitting Set translates directly to Gehrung size via the included cross-reference chart.
