Description

Hollister Adapt Barrier Rings — Sting-Free, Moldable, Cut & Stack, 2" & 4" Sizes, Box of 10

Paste-free. Sting-free. Cut it, stack it, stretch it — fits every stoma. Hollister Adapt Barrier Rings are flat, moldable hydrocolloid rings that fill depressions, even out skin contours, and seal the gap between the stoma and the skin barrier — without paste, without alcohol, and without stinging. The thin, flexible hydrocolloid construction allows each ring to be stretched to custom shapes, cut to fit difficult contours, bent to conform to uneven skin profiles, and stacked for added thickness — giving patients and clinicians a level of customization that paste and pre-formed rings cannot match. Adheres directly to skin without tape. Safe for use during swimming and bathing. Extends barrier wear time when used under a pouch or two-piece barrier. Ideal for patients with sensitive skin, limited dexterity, or skin irregularities around the stoma. Available in three variants — Standard 2" (7805), Large 4" (7806), and Slim 2" (7815). Box of 10. HCPCS A4407. FSA eligible.

Available SKUs

SKU Variant Outer Diameter Thickness Best For Count
7805 Adapt Barrier Ring — Standard 2" (50mm) 4.5mm Standard adult stoma · Deeper skin contours · Most common starting choice Box of 10
7815 Adapt Barrier Ring — Slim 2" (50mm) ~2.3mm Thinner profile preferred · Convex barrier use · Frequent changers · Less fill needed Box of 10
7806 Adapt Barrier Ring — Large 4" (100mm) ~2.3mm Large coverage area · Complex skin irregularities · Fistulas · Extended peristomal protection Box of 10
223576 Adapt Barrier Ring — Standard (Larger Pack) 2" (50mm) 4.5mm Higher volume supply — same ring as 7805 Box of 30

Sizing tip: Most patients start with the 7805 (Standard 2"). Move to the 7815 Slim if a thinner profile is preferred or if used with a convex barrier. Choose the 7806 Large when more extensive peristomal skin coverage is needed. Rings can be stacked for added thickness — two Slim rings (7815) equal approximately the thickness of one Standard (7805).

Features & Benefits

  • Cut, Bend, Stack, Stretch — Unmatched Customization — Most ostomy rings come in fixed sizes and shapes and ask the patient to adapt to the ring. The Hollister Adapt Barrier Ring reverses that relationship. The thin, flat hydrocolloid material can be cut to any length or shape with scissors — half rings for specific problem areas, custom arcs to follow a skin fold, irregular shapes to fill a scar channel. Cut pieces can be rejoined. Rings can be stacked to double or triple the thickness in a specific area without adding it everywhere. For patients with asymmetric peristomal contours — common after surgery, weight change, or hernia development — this customization capability is clinically significant and often the difference between a reliable seal and ongoing leakage.
  • Sting-Free — Paste Alternative for Sensitive Skin — Paste products contain alcohol, and alcohol on peristomal skin stings. For patients with sensitive, frequently changed, or chronically irritated peristomal skin, the sting of paste at every change is a meaningful quality-of-life issue — and a compliance barrier. Adapt Barrier Rings contain no alcohol. Application is completely sting-free regardless of skin condition. For patients who have been avoiding paste because of stinging, the ring format offers the same sealing function without the discomfort.
  • Adheres Without Tape — No Extra Steps — The hydrocolloid material adheres directly to skin on contact. No tape, no primer, no adhesive spray required — press the ring into place with light finger pressure and it holds. The same adhesive surface bonds to the skin barrier placed over it. The ring effectively becomes part of the barrier interface, creating a continuous adhesive layer from barrier to skin across the stoma gap.
  • Waterproof — Holds Through Swimming & Bathing — Hollister specifically recommends Adapt Barrier Rings for patients who swim or bathe frequently. The hydrocolloid material is waterproof and maintains its adhesion and seal integrity through water exposure — standard paste products often soften and lose their sealing function when wet, shortening wear time for active patients. Adapt Rings maintain their position and seal through water activity.
  • Extends Barrier Wear Time — By sealing the stoma-barrier gap and filling the skin irregularities that allow output to track under the barrier, Adapt Barrier Rings extend the effective wear time of the pouching system. Patients who struggle to get more than 2–3 days from their barrier often find that adding a barrier ring extends consistent wear to 4–5 days — reducing the number of changes per week, the amount of supplies consumed, and the cumulative skin trauma of repeated barrier removal.
  • Ideal for Limited Dexterity — The flat, pre-formed ring format requires no squeezing from a tube and no precise placement of a small bead into a skin fold. Patients with arthritis, reduced hand strength, or limited fine motor control can peel the ring backing, place it around the stoma, and press it into place with minimal manual precision. Stacking and cutting can be done in advance during a period of better dexterity and stored for use at change time.
  • Three Sizes — Standard, Slim, and Large — The Standard 7805 (4.5mm) fills deeper skin depressions and is the most common starting point. The Slim 7815 (~2.3mm) provides a lower-profile fill for patients who need minimal thickness — ideal under convex barriers where ring thickness can affect the convexity profile. The Large 7806 (4" diameter) provides extensive peristomal coverage for complex skin irregularities, large stomas, or patients who need a wider protective zone around the stoma.

Bottom line: Choose the Hollister Adapt Barrier Ring when customization and waterproofing are priorities — the ability to cut, bend, and stack makes it the most versatile ring format for complex peristomal profiles and active patients who swim. Choose the Eakin Cohesive Seal when skin healing is a clinical priority — its pectin formula has documented evidence for reducing peristomal skin complications. If you use a Hollister system, the Adapt Ring is the matched product. Both work effectively with any brand of barrier.

How to Apply Hollister Adapt Barrier Rings

  1. Clean and dry peristomal skin thoroughly before application.
  2. Remove the ring from packaging. If customization is needed — cut the ring to a specific length or shape, or stretch to fit a larger stoma opening before removing the backing.
  3. Peel the backing from the ring. If stacking rings, peel and press the first ring into place before adding the second.
  4. Center the ring around the stoma and press firmly onto the peristomal skin with gentle finger pressure. Smooth toward the stoma base to ensure full contact at the inner edge.
  5. Apply the skin barrier directly over the ring, aligning the barrier opening with the stoma. Press firmly outward from the stoma with palm pressure for 30–60 seconds.

Stacking: For additional thickness in specific areas, stack a second ring on top of the first after pressing the first ring into place. Two Slim (7815) rings equal approximately the thickness of one Standard (7805).

Cutting: Cut rings to half-ring or arc shapes with standard scissors to address specific problem areas — a skin fold on one side only, a scar channel, or an irregular contour that only affects part of the stoma circumference.

Removal: Peel gently with the barrier at change time. An adhesive remover can be used for more comfortable removal on sensitive skin.
