Features & Benefits

  • Highly Conformable Construction — Stretchable nonwoven fabric flexes and adapts to body contours, highly curved areas, and flexing joints — allows full range of motion without the tape lifting, bunching, or restricting movement at the knee, elbow, shoulder, or ankle
  • Hypoallergenic Low-Allergy Adhesive — Skin-friendly adhesive formulated to minimize irritation and sensitization, making Hypafix appropriate for sensitive skin, fragile or elderly skin, and patients requiring extended wear
  • Water-Resistant — Maintains adhesion through showering and exposure to moisture — dressings stay secured without requiring waterproof covers or tape changes after bathing
  • Radiolucent — X-rays and radiotherapy pass through Hypafix without interference — the tape can remain in place during imaging and radiation treatment, eliminating the need for removal and reapplication
  • Wide-Area Coverage — Wide roll widths (up to 6") allow large wounds, burn sites, sacral pressure ulcers, and post-surgical dressings to be covered and secured in fewer pieces with better edge adhesion
  • Breathable — Moist Wound Environment — Permeable nonwoven construction allows air and moisture vapor exchange, supporting a moist wound healing environment while reducing maceration risk under the tape
  • Gridlined Release Paper — Square grid guidelines on the split-back release paper allow precise measurement and cutting to any size or shape without measuring tools
  • Reusable Edge Lift — Tape edges can be lifted and re-adhered during dressing inspection without full removal, reducing waste and skin trauma at dressing changes
  • Latex-Free — Safe for latex-sensitive patients and latex-free clinical protocols

Clinical & Home Care Applications

  • Fixation of wound dressings, gauze, foam dressings, and absorbent pads
  • Securing catheters, drainage tubes, and post-operative drains
  • Burns and dermabrasion — wide-area coverage over sensitive wound surfaces
  • Sacral and coccyx pressure ulcer dressing retention
  • Post-surgical wound dressing securement
  • Joint wound dressing — knee, elbow, shoulder — where conformability and movement are required
  • Securing insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices
  • Ostomy appliance and trach tube securement
  • Athletic wound coverage and blister protection during sport activity
  • Emergency preparedness and outdoor wound care kits

Choosing the Right Size

  • 2" x 2 yds (4208) — Short rolls for single-use or low-volume home care applications — narrow width for tubes, catheters, and small dressings
  • 4" x 2 yds (4211) — Short rolls for moderate wound coverage — ideal for trying the product or single-procedure applications
  • 2" x 10 yds (4209) — Standard clinical roll for tube securement, IV lines, and smaller dressing fixation — most versatile everyday width
  • 4" x 10 yds (4210) — Most commonly ordered size — suitable for medium to large wound dressings, joint areas, and post-surgical applications
  • 6" x 10 yds (4217) — Widest size for large burns, sacral wounds, abdominal post-surgical dressings, and high-coverage applications where broad single-piece fixation is needed

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Hypafix and Cover-Roll Stretch?
Both are BSN Medical nonwoven fixation tapes with similar use cases, but Hypafix has a more conformable, stretchier construction and is specifically water-resistant for showering. Cover-Roll Stretch is the specified underlayer for BSN Leukotape P McConnell taping protocols. For general dressing retention — especially over large wounds, burns, or joint areas requiring maximum conformability — Hypafix is typically preferred.

Can Hypafix stay on during showering?
Yes — Hypafix is water-resistant and maintains adhesion through showering. It is not fully waterproof for submersion but holds reliably through normal bathing and perspiration.

Does Hypafix need to be removed for X-rays or radiation therapy?
No — Hypafix is radiolucent, meaning X-rays and radiotherapy pass through it without interference. It can remain in place during imaging and radiation treatment sessions.

Is Hypafix suitable for sensitive or fragile skin?
Yes — the hypoallergenic, low-allergy adhesive is specifically formulated to minimize irritation and is appropriate for sensitive, elderly, or fragile skin and extended wear applications.

Can Hypafix be used to secure insulin pumps or CGM devices?
Yes — Hypafix's flexible, conformable, water-resistant construction makes it well-suited for securing insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring sensors during daily activity and showering.

How is Hypafix cut and applied?
Clean and dry the skin first. Peel back the split release liner — the square grid guidelines printed on the liner allow precise measurement and cutting with scissors. Apply the tape over the dressing or device, pressing firmly from the center outward. Edges can be lifted and repositioned during dressing checks without full removal.

Is Hypafix latex-free?
Yes — Hypafix is not made with natural rubber latex and is safe for latex-sensitive patients.
