The Lumex LF2020 Power Sit-to-Stand Patient Lift by Graham Field is a battery-powered electric sit-to-stand (STS) lift — a fundamentally different product from a full-body floor lift. Where full-body lifts support a patient who cannot bear any weight, the LF2020 is designed for patients who can partially support their own weight and can actively participate in standing — but need powered assistance to complete the standing motion safely. The LF2020 raises the patient from seated to standing position using a 24V DC electric actuator, with the patient gripping the spreader bar handles, knees positioned against the adjustable knee pads, and feet on the removable foot platform. 400 lb capacity. Sit-to-Stand vs Full-Body Lift — The Critical Distinction

Before Ordering — Read This

The LF2020 requires active patient participation. It is not a full-body lift.

Sit-to-Stand lifts are designed for patients who have difficulty standing up on their own from a seated position, but who can actively participate in the lifting process and are able to partially support their own weight. The LF2020 provides powered assistance — the patient grips the spreader bar handles, bears some weight through their legs, and works with the lift to stand. If your patient cannot bear any weight on their lower extremities, cannot grip the handles, or requires full body support throughout the transfer, a full-body floor lift (such as the Hoyer HML400, Drive 13023SV, or Lumex LF1030) is the medically appropriate choice — not the LF2020. How the LF2020 Works

Position and sling Place the sit-to-stand sling around the patient while seated. Attach sling to spreader bar. Patient places feet on the foot platform. Knees contact the adjustable knee pads.

Open base — foot pedal Open the base using the foot pedal — caregiver's hands remain free. 4.7" clearance fits under most beds. Roll lift into position with knee pads against patient's knees.

Patient grips handles Patient grips the spreader bar handles — or wraps arms around the padded boom. Large, ergonomic grip design accommodates weak hand strength. Check battery indicator before lifting.

Raise to standing Caregiver presses UP on the hand pendant. Patient rises from seated to standing with powered assistance — participating in the motion as the lift provides the primary force. Emergency stop available at any point.

Key Features

Adjustable Knee Pad Unit The knee pads position against the patient's knees during the sit-to-stand motion — providing a stable contact point that guides the patient's legs and prevents knees from splaying outward during rising. The pads adjust for different patient leg geometries. A critical comfort and safety component for patients with knee pain or instability.
Quick-Release Removable Foot Platform — Gait Training The foot platform removes quickly for use in gait training protocols. During gait training, the therapist needs the patient in a standing position but without the foot platform obstructing lower extremity movement. The quick-release mechanism allows platform removal in seconds, converting the LF2020 from a transfer device to a gait training support.
Foot Pedal Base Opening — Hands Free The base opens and closes via foot pedal — the caregiver's hands remain available for patient contact and stabilization during base positioning. On lifts with hand-operated base controls, one caregiver hand is occupied with the base while the other manages the patient. The foot pedal eliminates that conflict.
Emergency Stop Button + Emergency Lowering Mechanism The emergency stop button halts all lift motion immediately. The emergency lowering mechanism on the actuator shaft allows controlled manual descent if the battery is depleted or power is interrupted mid-transfer — the patient is never left suspended without a recovery option.
Smart Warning System — Battery and Overload The control box provides both audible (warning beep) and visual (LED indicator) alerts for two conditions: low battery charge and weight capacity approach. Both warnings activate before a problem interrupts a transfer — the caregiver is alerted in advance, not during the critical lifting moment.
Large Easy-Grip Handles for Caregiver Maneuvering The LF2020 includes large, ergonomically shaped handles for the caregiver to maneuver the lift into position. Moving a 118 lb powered lift precisely is physically demanding — large handles with appropriate grip geometry reduce the effort and control required for accurate positioning.
Rubber-Coated Low Base Legs The base legs have rubber coatings that protect floor surfaces, walls, and furniture from the scratching and scuffing that bare steel bases cause during daily positioning.
