- Gather the following:
- Towels Toilet paper
- Disposable gloves
- Wash cloths or wet wipes
- A basin with warm water
- Run and dry warm water over the bedpan. A metal bedpan retains heat, so make sure it is not too hot before placing it under the patient.
- Apply baby powder on the edges of the bedpan to make it easier to slip under the patient.
