The Protekt Onyx uses chain connections between the spreader bar and the sling — not plastic clip hooks. Clip-based sling attachments are the most common source of small-part loss in patient lift use: clips detach between transfers, fall behind furniture, and get misplaced during storage. When a clip is missing at transfer time, the lift cannot be used safely until a replacement is found.

Chain connections eliminate this problem entirely. The chains are permanently attached to the spreader bar — there is nothing to lose. Every transfer, the chains are where they should be. A small design choice with a meaningful practical impact for caregivers doing daily transfers.

The Arched Leg Design

The Protekt Onyx's legs follow an arched profile rather than straight horizontal tubes. The arched design serves two purposes: structural strength and floor profile. The arch distributes the lateral load of the open base more efficiently than a straight tube — the same steel wall thickness produces a stronger, more rigid open-base stance. The arch also keeps the outermost points of the legs slightly above the floor, reducing the risk of catching on carpet edges and low furniture bases when navigating the lift to the transfer position.

How the Protekt Onyx Works

Position sling Position the patient in a compatible sling while in bed, chair, or wheelchair. Attach sling loops to the 6-point spreader bar using the included chain connections — no clips to fumble with.

Open base and position Open the base to 42.25" using the hand-operated base control — locks open securely. Roll the lift over the patient using low-friction casters. 5.25" base clearance clears most bed frames.

Pump to raise Caregiver operates the hydraulic pump handle to raise the patient smoothly. Engage dual rear locking casters to hold the lift in position. Rotate 360° to face the destination.

Release valve to lower Release the hydraulic valve to lower the patient controllably. Destination: chair, bed, toilet, or wheelchair. Remove sling once patient is fully positioned and supported.
