The ShowerBuddy SB1 Transfer System solves a problem that most shower chairs can't — getting a mobility-impaired user into a step-in shower without a roll-in shower, without heavy lifting, and without remodeling the bathroom. Most shower commodes require a barrier-free floor. The SB1 works with the shower you already have, including one with a threshold or step, by sliding the user across the step in a seated position using a patented bridge-and-track system.

The system has three components. The rolling base functions like an attendant wheelchair — four locking 5" casters, roll over the toilet for commode use, roll around the house between bathroom trips. The bridge connects the rolling base to the shower base and allows the seated user to slide laterally across the shower threshold into the shower stall. The shower base locks to the shower floor with waterproof suction feet, rotates 360° for positioning and caregiver access, and stays in place while the bridge and rolling base disconnect and roll away — leaving the shower door free to close normally. When showering is complete, the rolling base reconnects via the bridge and the user slides back out the same way.

Once inside, the bridge disconnects, the rolling base rolls away, and the shower door can close. The user and chair are now inside the shower with the chair secured to the floor via suction feet. The process reverses after showering.

Does my bathroom need a roll-in shower?
No — this is the key distinction of the SB1. It works with standard step-in showers that have a threshold or curb. The bridge spans whatever step height the shower has. Will it fit over my toilet?
The SB1 rolls over most standard residential toilets — max toilet height clearance is 19.25", min toilet width clearance is 12.5" at the narrowest point (center of track, approximately 8" above the floor). Note that the SB1 fits over a more limited range of toilets than a standard rolling commode because of its track geometry. Confirm your toilet dimensions before ordering.

Can the shower base stay permanently in the shower?
