The ShowerGlyde SG3 is the sliding transfer bench for the bathroom that will not take a standard transfer bench. Most benches need clear floor space on the outside of the tub — if a vanity, a linen cabinet, or a wall sits right at the tub end, a full-length bench simply will not fit. The SG3 solves that with two design changes: the shortest rail set in the ShowerGlyde line, and a seat that swivels 90 degrees as standard. The seat extends roughly eight inches past the tub lip instead of a full seat width, then rotates to face the user for the transfer. The result is safe, seated tub entry in a footprint that clears the obstruction. Locks at two points — outside the tub and inside the tub. 330 lb capacity, 24.7 lb total weight, clears a tub wall up to 19 inches, and assembles left-hand or right-hand from the same box. Grab bar, seat belt, and three interchangeable seat inserts are all included.

When a Vanity Sits Right Against the Tub

A conventional sliding transfer bench needs the seat to travel a full seat width beyond the outside of the tub before the user can sit down. In a bathroom where a vanity, a closet door, or a wall is inches from the tub end, there is nowhere for that seat to go — and the bench either cannot be installed or gets used unsafely. The SG3 stops about eight inches past the tub lip and swivels the seat 90 degrees to meet the user instead. The transfer still happens seated, the rails still carry the user over the tub wall, and the bench still locks at both ends. It just does it in the space a small bathroom actually has.

Three Interchangeable Seat Inserts — All Included

Open Commode Seat The default configuration. The open cutout gives full perineal access for washing during a shower and makes rinsing and drying easier for a caregiver.

Splatter Guard Insert Drops into the commode opening to deflect spray while keeping the cutout usable. A middle setting between fully open and fully closed — unique to the SG3.

Solid Seat Insert Closes the commode opening completely for a flat, continuous seat surface. Use this when the opening is not needed and full seat contact is preferred.

90° Swivel Seat — Standard on SG3 Only The SG3 is the only ShowerGlyde model that includes the swivel seat as standard equipment. The seat rotates a quarter turn to face the user at the outside position, so the approach can come from the side rather than head-on. On the SG1 and SG2 the swivel is a separate purchase.
Shortest Rails in the ShowerGlyde Line The seat extends roughly eight inches past the outside tub lip rather than a full seat width. That reduced overhang is what lets the bench coexist with a vanity, a cabinet, or a wall immediately beside the tub. Overall width across the rails is 36.8".
Two Lock Points — Inside and Outside the Tub The seat locks at both ends of the rail travel: at the outside position for the transfer on and off, and at the inside position for bathing. No unexpected movement while the user is loading or unloading their weight onto the seat.
Wall-Side Grab Bar Included One grab bar mounts to the wall-side rail and is included in the box — not an upcharge. The user pulls or pushes along it to move the seat across the rails, which keeps the slide under their own control rather than requiring a caregiver push.
Height Adjustable — 19" Tub, 25" with Extension Legs Overall height adjusts from 37.3" to 42.8", clearing a tub wall up to 19". For taller tub lips — garden tubs, jetted tubs, some walk-in surrounds — optional extension legs raise clearance to 25". Measure your tub wall before ordering.
Will Not Rust — Aluminum, Plastic, Stainless Machine-welded aluminum frame with plastic and stainless steel components throughout. Nothing in the build corrodes in a daily-shower environment. The feet are tough plastic rather than rubber over bare tubing, so they will not wear through onto the tub floor.
Left-Hand or Right-Hand from the Same Box The SG3 assembles in either orientation to match the side your tub opens from. No separate part number, no additional hardware, and it can be reversed later if the user moves or the bathroom layout changes.
Seat Belt Standard · Accessories Available A seat belt ships with every SG3. Optional add-ons include flip-back height-adjustable armrests, a contoured padded seat cover, extension legs, a shower curtain clip, and custom-length rails — ask us about any of these when you order.

⚠️ Before Ordering — Three Measurements

⚠️ Take these three measurements before you choose a model. It takes five minutes and prevents a return.

1. Tub wall height: Floor to the top of the tub rim. Up to 19" works as shipped. Between 19" and 25" needs the optional extension legs. Over 25" — call us, the SG3 is not the right product.

2. Clear space beside the tub: Measure from the outside of the tub to the nearest obstruction — vanity, cabinet, wall, door swing. If you have roughly 20"+ of clear floor, the SG1 may suit you better. Under that, the SG3's short rail is the reason it exists.

3. What's next to the tub: A vanity or wall points to the SG3. A toilet directly beside the tub points to the SG2, which slides over the toilet seat. Open floor space points to the SG1.
