Description

Smith & Nephew IntraSite Gel Applipak — Amorphous Hydrogel Wound Dressing, 4 Sizes

The hydrogel that reads the wound — and responds accordingly. Smith & Nephew IntraSite Gel is a partially hydrated amorphous hydrogel that adapts to the wound environment rather than delivering a fixed moisture level. In dry wounds it donates moisture to rehydrate necrotic tissue. In wetter wounds it absorbs slough and exudate. At every stage of healing it maintains the moist wound environment that tissue repair requires — all delivered through the unique Applipak system that directs the gel precisely where it needs to go, even in awkward wound locations.

✔ Partially Hydrated Formula — Donates or Absorbs Based on Wound Conditions    ✔ Rapid Gentle Debridement    ✔ Unique Applipak Delivery System    ✔ Sterile, Non-Adherent, 4 Sizes

How IntraSite Gel Works — At Every Stage of Healing

What sets IntraSite apart from standard hydrogels is its partially hydrated formula — a gel that isn't fully saturated to begin with, so it has capacity to absorb as well as donate. In a dry wound with necrotic or sloughy tissue, IntraSite donates moisture to rehydrate the tissue and kick-start autolytic debridement. As the wound progresses to the granulation stage, IntraSite absorbs excess exudate while keeping the granulation tissue moist and protecting it from disruption. This dual-function behavior makes IntraSite clinically suitable across the full wound healing continuum — not just the debridement phase.

  • Partially hydrated formula — adapts to wound conditions, donating or absorbing moisture as needed
  • Rehydrates necrotic tissue — rapid but gentle autolytic debridement without sharp intervention
  • Absorbs slough and exudate — desloughs wound bed without damaging fragile granulation tissue
  • Maintains moist wound surface — prevents eschar formation during later healing stages
  • Supports epithelialization — keeps granulation tissue moist to allow migration of epithelializing cells
  • Propylene glycol provides mild bacteriostatic activity — and acts as humectant to keep gel from drying out in the tube
  • Non-adherent — removes cleanly with gentle saline irrigation, no mechanical trauma
  • Non-cytotoxic — safe for direct contact with viable tissue and periwound skin at every healing stage
  • Extensive clinical evidence base — suitable for use under medical supervision on infected wounds

The Applipak System — Precision Application Every Time

IntraSite Gel comes in Smith & Nephew's unique Applipak delivery system — a sterile, single-use pouch with a directed nozzle that allows precise, controlled application even in difficult wound locations. For wounds in body folds, around joints, in cavity wounds, or in any location where a standard tube is awkward to use, the Applipak directs the gel exactly where it needs to go without mess, waste, or contamination. Each Applipak is individually sterile-packaged — reducing cross-contamination risk and simplifying stock management in both home care and clinical settings.

  • Directed nozzle — precise, controlled gel placement in awkward wound locations
  • Single-use sterile packaging — no contamination risk between applications
  • Available in 3 sizes — match the Applipak to the wound to minimize waste
  • Easy to handle with gloves — designed for clinical and home care use

Choosing the Right Size

  • 8g Applipak (66027308) — Small wounds, skin tears, minor burns, cuts and abrasions, and post-surgical sites. Single-application for smaller wound beds
  • 15g Applipak (66027311) — Medium wounds, pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, and diabetic foot wounds. The most commonly ordered size for routine wound care
  • 25g Applipak (66027313) — Large wounds, cavity wounds, granulating wounds requiring generous gel fill, and wounds with heavy slough or necrotic burden

IntraSite Gel vs. Solosite Wound Gel — What's the Difference?

Both are amorphous hydrogel wound dressings from Smith & Nephew — but they serve different clinical profiles.

  • IntraSite Gel (this product) — Partially hydrated formula with propylene glycol — absorbs and donates. Sterile Applipak delivery. Broader clinical indications including cavity wounds, fungating wounds, radiation burns, and infected wounds under supervision. More clinically focused
  • Solosite Wound Gel — Water-swellable polymer in a 3 oz. tube. Stays gel-like until saturated. Crystal clear for wound visualization. Multi-dose format. Broader OTC indications including sunburn. More home-care accessible
