Description

NU-DERM Alginate Wound Dressing — High-Absorbency & Cohesive Gelling

Maximum fluid control with effortless, one-piece removal. NU-DERM Alginate is a sterile, non-woven dressing composed of high-G (guluronic acid) calcium alginate fibers. Engineered for high-capacity absorption, it quickly reacts with wound exudate to form a soft, conformable gel. This gelling process creates a moist environment that supports autolytic debridement and natural healing, while the high fiber strength ensures the dressing stays together when wet—allowing for a clean, atraumatic removal without leaving residue in the wound bed.

✔ Superior Absorption — Manages Moderate to Heavy Exudate    ✔ High-G Fiber Strength — Lifts Cleanly in One Piece    ✔ Conformable Design — Fills Irregular Wound Shapes and Cavities    ✔ Supports Debridement — Maintains an Optimal Moist Environment

The NU-DERM Advantage — Engineered for Structural Integrity

Many standard alginates can become "slushy" or fragment when they reach full saturation, requiring time-consuming irrigation to clean the wound. NU-DERM Alginate is designed with a specific fiber weave that maintains its structural integrity even after turning into a gel. This protects the fragile new tissue (granulation) from being disturbed during dressing changes and reduces the overall risk of infection caused by left-behind fibers.

  • Rapid Gelling Action: Instantly pulls excess fluid away from the wound surface to prevent periwound maceration.
  • Optimal Moisture Balance: Keeps the wound bed hydrated enough to allow the body's natural enzymes to clean the wound (autolysis).
  • Flexible Packing: The soft pad and rope formats are highly conformable, ensuring no "dead space" is left in deep wounds where bacteria can multiply.
  • Reduced Patient Discomfort: The gel layer prevents the dressing from sticking to the wound, making removal much less painful than traditional gauze.

Application & Removal Tips

Cleanse the wound bed with sterile saline. Place the NU-DERM Alginate pad or rope into the wound bed (it can be cut or folded to fit). Secure with an appropriate secondary dressing to maintain moisture. Removal: The dressing should be changed once it has fully converted to a gel. If the dressing appears dry, simply saturate it with saline before lifting to ensure a completely gentle removal.
