Description

Torbot Solvent Adhesive Remover — Ostomy Appliance & Cement Remover, 16 oz

Clean removal. No residue. Protects sensitive skin. Torbot Solvent Adhesive Remover (SKU TR420) is a clear hydrocarbon liquid formulated to gently dissolve and lift solvent-based adhesives, ostomy cement, and medical adhesives from skin, appliances, and pouching system components. It is the companion solvent to Torbot Bonding Cement — recommended for removing ostomy faceplates and discs, thinning Torbot cement that has thickened, cleaning residual cement from skin or fingers, and removing accumulated adhesive buildup from pouches and barrier discs. Available in a 16 oz bottle. FSA eligible. Highly flammable — cannot ship overnight or via air freight.

Features & Benefits

  • Gentle Appliance Removal — Less Mechanical Stress on Skin — Peeling an ostomy faceplate or disc directly from skin — particularly for patients using a bonding cement — creates significant mechanical stress at the skin surface. TR420 Solvent penetrates between the adhesive and skin as it is applied, chemically loosening the bond and allowing the faceplate or disc to lift away with far less traction force. For patients with peristomal skin that is already irritated, fragile, or sensitive, this reduction in pull force during removal is clinically meaningful.
  • Torbot Bonding Cement Thinner — Restores Workable Consistency — Torbot Bonding Cement can thicken over time, particularly when a can has been partially used or stored in warm conditions. TR420 Solvent is the manufacturer-recommended thinner — add up to 2 oz of solvent per 4 oz can of cement (in half-ounce increments) and allow to sit for at least 8 hours before mixing. This restores the cement to its original working consistency without compromising adhesive strength.
  • Cleans Residual Cement and Adhesive From Skin — After appliance removal, Torbot cement residue remaining on peristomal skin can be difficult to remove with water alone and may cause irritation if left in place. TR420 Solvent dissolves the residue cleanly — saturate a cotton ball or gauze, rub gently over the cement until it loosens, then wipe with a clean dry cloth. Skin should be washed with mild soap and water after use to remove any remaining solvent.
  • Removes Adhesive Buildup From Pouches and Barrier Discs — Accumulated solvent-based adhesive on reusable pouching components can interfere with the next application cycle and shorten the usable life of the component. TR420 cleans these surfaces effectively, restoring the pouch or disc to a clean adhesion-ready state.
  • Designed for Torbot Cement-Based Ostomy Systems — TR420 is the purpose-built companion to Torbot Bonding Cement, formulated to be chemically compatible with the cement's hydrocarbon base. It is not a general-purpose adhesive remover wipe — it is a professional-grade solvent intended for patients and clinicians using Torbot cement-based appliance systems. For patients using barrier wafer or skin-barrier adhesive systems (not cement-based), adhesive remover wipes may be more appropriate.
  • Useful for Skin-Sensitive Patients — For patients who experience peristomal skin reactions linked to the mechanical trauma of adhesive removal rather than the adhesive chemistry itself, switching to a solvent-assisted removal routine with TR420 can reduce that trauma meaningfully. The solvent does the loosening work; the patient's skin does less of the absorbing.

How to Use Torbot Solvent Adhesive Remover

Removing an Ostomy Appliance or Disc

  1. Saturate a cotton ball with TR420 Solvent, or use an eyedropper to apply a few drops of solvent at the top edge of the disc or faceplate, between the appliance and the skin.
  2. Gently begin pulling the disc or faceplate away from the body as the solvent penetrates downward between the adhesive and the skin surface.
  3. Apply additional solvent as needed, working around the edge of the appliance, until removal is complete.
  4. After removal, wash the peristomal skin gently with mild soap and water to remove any solvent residue before applying the next appliance.

Thinning Torbot Bonding Cement

  1. If Torbot Bonding Cement has become too thick to apply evenly, add TR420 Solvent in half-ounce increments — up to 2 oz of solvent per 4 oz can of cement.
  2. Allow the mixture to sit for at least 8 hours after each addition before mixing.
  3. Mix well and test consistency before use. Repeat if further thinning is needed.

Cleaning Cement or Adhesive From Skin

  1. Saturate a cotton ball or piece of gauze with TR420 Solvent.
  2. Rub gently over the cement or adhesive residue until it begins to loosen and dissolve.
  3. Wipe away with a clean dry cloth.
  4. Wash the area with mild soap and water. If skin irritation occurs, seek medical attention.

Cleaning Pouches and Barrier Discs

  1. Apply TR420 Solvent to a cotton ball or gauze.
  2. Rub over accumulated adhesive buildup on the pouch or disc surface until the residue dissolves.
  3. Wipe clean with a dry cloth and allow the component to dry completely before reuse.

Safety Information

⚠ Highly Flammable — Read Before Use

Fire & Explosion Hazard Material is highly volatile and readily gives off vapors which may travel along the ground or be moved by ventilation and ignited by pilot lights, open flames, sparks, electric motors, static discharge, or other ignition sources. Never use near open flame, welding torches, or heat sources. Keep away from heat, direct sunlight, and all sources of ignition. Cannot ship overnight or via air freight.
Inhalation Brief exposure during normal handling is not likely to cause harm. If irritation occurs, move to fresh air. If breathing difficulty develops, seek medical attention.
Eye Contact May cause mild irritation. Remove contact lenses. Rinse eyes thoroughly with water. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
Skin Contact May cause mild irritation. Prolonged or repeated contact may dry the skin. Wash exposed area with mild soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation occurs.
Storage Store in a cool, dry area at ambient temperature. Keep container tightly closed and away from heat, direct sunlight, and all ignition sources.
If Ingested Contact Poison Control or your physician immediately.
