Lumex Versamode Drop Arm Commode Chair
/
The Lumex VersaMode Drop Arm Commode (Model 6810A) is built around one feature that most rolling commodes don't have — arms that drop independently below seat level. On a standard rolling commode, the armrests either flip back or detach, which requires the caregiver to operate them before a transfer can happen. On the VersaMode, each arm drops straight down out of the way independently, so a lateral transfer from a wheelchair or bed can happen from either side without the caregiver needing to step around and reposition the chair. That's the practical difference, and it's the reason this chair carries the HCPCS E0165 code for drop-arm commodes.
Beyond the drop arms, it's a capable 3-in-1 commode — transport chair, lateral transfer aid, and rolling commode with a 7 qt pail and lid. The 5" rear swivel locking casters maneuver well in tight bathroom spaces. Swing-away footrests extend or detach. The padded seat cover also serves as the backrest when the seat is removed for commode use. Supports up to 300 lbs. Made in the USA. 3-year limited warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do the drop arms work differently from flip-back arms?
Flip-back arms pivot backward and up — they stay attached but swing out of the transfer path. Drop arms release downward, below seat level, so they're completely out of the way on both sides of the chair simultaneously if needed. For a lateral slide transfer from wheelchair to commode, drop arms create a cleaner path and don't require the caregiver to step around the chair to deal with each arm separately. The arms operate independently so you can drop one or both depending on which side the transfer happens from.
What does the HCPCS E0165 code mean?
E0165 is the Medicare billing code for a commode chair with drop arms. If a physician or therapist has specified a drop-arm commode as part of a care plan, this is the chair that meets that code. Contact us or your insurance provider for coverage details — we can't confirm individual coverage but can provide product information to support a claim.
Can it be used over a standard toilet?
The commode seat height is 19.5" — most standard residential toilets sit at 15–17". The chair rolls over the toilet rather than sitting on it, with the bucket removed. Check that your toilet bowl width clears the 18.25" between arms before ordering.
Does it work as a shower chair?
The VersaMode is primarily a transport and transfer commode — it's not specifically designed for shower use. For daily shower use, a dedicated rolling shower commode is a better fit. Call us if you need both functions and we'll help you find the right chair.
Does it come assembled?
No — the chair ships unassembled. Assembly is required before use.
What is the warranty?
3-year limited warranty from Graham Field / Lumex — stronger than the standard 1-year found on many commodes in this category.
