Smith & Nephew Covrsite Composite Cover Dressing — Single-Step Tape & Gauze Replacement, 4 Sizes
One dressing that replaces tape, gauze, and secondary cover in a single step — water-resistant, extensible, and gentle enough for daily changes. Smith & Nephew Covrsite Composite Cover Dressing is a multi-layer composite dressing designed as the single-step finishing layer for any wound management protocol — replacing the cumbersome assembly of gauze pad, cover layer, and tape with one self-contained dressing that adheres, absorbs, protects, and seals in one application. The non-adherent absorbent inner pad sits gently over the wound or primary dressing, the extensible outer layer conforms and moves with the body, and the low-allergy adhesive border holds securely while remaining gentle enough for daily dressing changes without trauma to the periwound skin. Available in two product lines — standard Covrsite (water-resistant) and Covrsite Plus (fully waterproof, with enhanced fecal and urinary contamination barrier) — and four sizes covering wounds from compact to broad coverage. Suitable as a primary dressing for low-exudate acute wounds, as a secondary cover over gels, alginates, foams, and wound fillers, and as an alternative to tape and gauze over central line dressings.
✔ Single-Step Application — Replaces Tape, Gauze & Secondary Cover in One Dressing ✔ Low-Allergy Gentle Adhesive — Designed for Daily Changes Without Skin Trauma ✔ Water-Resistant & Extensible — Conforms to Body Contours, Moves With the Patient ✔ Primary or Secondary Use — Over Gels, Alginates, Foams, Wound Fillers & More ✔ Available Standard & Waterproof Plus Versions

Indicated For — Wound Types & Applications
- Post-operative and sutured wounds with low to moderate exudate — used as primary dressing
- Cuts, lacerations, and abrasions requiring a single-step cover dressing
- Secondary cover over wound gels (Solosite and others), gel sheets, alginates, wound fillers, and non-adhesive foams
- Central line and IV catheter sites — single-step alternative to tape and gauze
- Acute and chronic wounds requiring daily dressing changes with a gentle adhesive
- Wounds in incontinent patients — Covrsite Plus provides fully waterproof barrier against urine and feces
- Any wound requiring a simple, reliable cover dressing that replaces the assembly of multiple components
- Wounds where a low-allergy adhesive is clinically preferred due to sensitive periwound skin
Note: Covrsite is indicated for wounds with light to moderate exudate when used as a primary dressing. For heavily exuding wounds use with a primary absorbent dressing. Covrsite Plus provides enhanced waterproof protection — select Plus version for wounds in incontinent patients or any environment where fecal or urinary contamination is a risk.
How It Works — Single-Step Composite Cover
Traditional wound cover assemblies require multiple separate components — a gauze pad or non-adherent dressing over the wound, a secondary cover layer, and tape to secure it all. Each component is a separate application step, a separate potential failure point, and a separate source of cost and supply management. Covrsite eliminates this entirely with a single pre-assembled composite that provides all three layers in one dressing. The non-adherent absorbent inner pad gently covers the wound surface or primary dressing without bonding to healing tissue. The extensible outer layer flexes and conforms with body movement — preventing the lifting and edge roll that rigid covers cause during patient activity. The low-allergy adhesive border provides reliable periwound skin adhesion that holds securely throughout daily wear while releasing gently at the next dressing change — designed specifically so the dressing can be changed daily without the adhesive trauma that standard tape causes on repeated application and removal.
- Single-step application — replaces gauze, cover layer, and tape in one product
- Non-adherent inner pad — covers wound or primary dressing without bonding to tissue
- Extensible and conformable outer layer — flexes with body movement, resists edge lifting
- Low-allergy adhesive — well-tolerated gentle border designed for daily changes
- Bacterial barrier — provides protection against external contamination
- Water-resistant (Covrsite) or fully waterproof (Covrsite Plus) — protection level matched to patient need
- Covrsite Plus fully waterproof film — protects wound from contamination by urine and feces in incontinent patients
- Works over all standard primary dressings — gels, alginates, foams, wound fillers, and non-adherent contact layers
- Can be used at central line and IV catheter sites — eliminates tape-and-gauze assembly at access sites
- Sterile individually packaged — appropriate for all clinical and home wound care settings
Covrsite vs. Covrsite Plus — Choosing the Right Version
| Choose Covrsite (59714 series) When: | Choose Covrsite Plus (59715 series) When: |
|---|---|
| Patient is continent — no urinary or fecal contamination risk | Patient is incontinent — fecal or urinary contamination is a real risk |
| Standard wound cover for post-op, lacerations, and general wound management | Wounds on the perineum, sacrum, gluteal area, or any site near incontinence |
| Water-resistant protection is sufficient for the clinical environment | Full waterproof bacterial and viral barrier is clinically required |
| Cost-sensitive protocol where standard water resistance meets clinical need | Shower-safe protection needed — fully waterproof film keeps wound dry when bathing |
Choosing the Right Size
| Item # | Overall Size | Pad Size | Qty/Box | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 59714000 | 4" x 4" | 2" x 2" | 10/box | Small wounds, IV and central line sites, lacerations, post-op sites on fingers, hands, and feet |
| 59714100 | 4" x 8" | 2" x 6" | 10/box | Elongated wounds on the forearm, lower leg, or shin — narrow rectangular wounds requiring extended pad length |
| 59714300 | 6" x 6" | 4" x 4" | 10/box | Standard medium-large wounds — broad post-surgical sites, pressure injuries, and wounds requiring wider pad coverage |
| 59714400 | 6" x 8" | 4" x 6" | 10/box | Large wounds requiring maximum pad area — large pressure injuries, extensive surgical sites, and large abdominal wounds |
Note: Select a size where the pad is slightly larger than the wound area — the adhesive border should overlap onto intact periwound skin on all sides. For Covrsite Plus sizes — 59715000 (4" x 4") and 59715100 (6" x 6") are available.
