Description
The Pride VivaLift Radiance PLR-3955 is the heat-focused chair in Pride's VivaLift lineup — and the reason to choose it over other infinite-position models is specific: it heats in three separate zones, not one. Separate heat pads in the shoulders, lumbar, and seat, each with three intensity levels, each controlled independently. Most heated lift chairs warm the lumbar only. The Radiance heats where arthritis and chronic muscle tension actually live — including the upper back and seat where patients spend most of their contact hours.

What Sets the Radiance Apart
3-Zone Heat — Shoulders, Lumbar & Seat
Three independent heat pads, three levels each. Activate any combination. Most lift chairs heat lumbar only — the Radiance heats the upper back and shoulders (where arthritis tension concentrates) and the seat surface (where contact hours are highest). In SW Florida's year-round air conditioning, this is used daily.
True Infinite Position + Trendelenburg
Backrest and footrest move completely independently. Includes Trendelenburg — feet rise above head level — for maximum lower leg swelling reduction and venous return. Not all lift chairs marketed as "infinite" actually reach Trendelenburg. The PLR-3955 does.
Power Headrest & Power Lumbar
Two additional independent adjustments beyond the standard back/footrest. Power headrest adjusts neck and head support angle without reclining the whole chair. Power lumbar inflates and deflates a bladder in the lower back for personalized support firmness.
Wireless Charging + Cup Holder
Qi wireless charging pad built into the armrest — place a compatible phone face-down and it charges without a cable. Hideaway cup holder folds flush when not in use. Both accessible without reaching behind the chair or searching for the remote.
4 Sizes — Petite Wide to Large/Tall

Lithium Battery Backup
Returns the chair to the upright seated position during a power outage. Lithium is more reliable over more charge cycles than older lead-acid backup systems. Standard on every PLR-3955 — not an upgrade.
Size & Fit — Four Sizes for the Full Height Range
Correct sizing is essential — it affects how the chair feels, how the lift mechanism performs, and how safely the chair raises you to standing. When seated, feet should rest flat on the floor with knees near 90 degrees. The seat depth should support your thighs without pressing behind your knees.

Frequently Asked Questions
For many patients, no — lumbar-only heat is not enough. Arthritis concentrates in joints throughout the upper and lower back. Chronic muscle tension from years of compensating for weak or painful areas builds up in the shoulders and upper back as much as the lumbar. And the seat surface is where your body makes the most contact during extended sitting — keeping that surface warm reduces the deep hip and gluteal stiffness that makes standing difficult. The Radiance heats all three locations independently. You can run shoulders and seat without lumbar, or lumbar only, or all three at different levels. This is therapeutic flexibility that single-zone heat simply cannot provide.
Both chairs have true infinite positioning with Trendelenburg, power headrest and lumbar, lithium battery backup, and four sizes. The Radiance adds 3-zone heat (shoulders, lumbar, and seat) and wireless phone charging with a cup holder. The Tranquil 2 does not include heat. If heat therapy is a priority — arthritis, chronic back stiffness, muscle tension — the Radiance is the correct chair. If heat is not needed and you want to spend less, the Tranquil 2 delivers the same positioning capability at a lower price point.
Both have 3-zone heat and true infinite positioning. The Ultra adds three things the Radiance does not: VivaLift Tilt (a deeper zero-gravity cradle that the Radiance cannot achieve), air-bladder massage, and heat/massage controls built into the armrest interior. The Radiance is the right call if 3-zone heat is the therapeutic priority and the deeper tilt and massage are not required. The Ultra is the right call if you want everything Pride makes in one chair. Both sizes fit users under 5'4" and have the same seat depth (18") and seat height. The difference is seat width: the Petite Wide is 24" wide, the Small is 20" wide. If you have wider hips or find standard chairs too narrow, the Petite Wide is the correct choice. If you are narrower-framed, the Small fits better and keeps the seat from feeling too large. When in doubt, sit in both in our showroom — a 4-inch seat width difference is immediately noticeable in person.
