How to Choose a Power Lift Recliner — What Actually Matters
Sizing — The Most Important Decision
An incorrectly sized lift chair is uncomfortable and may not lift you safely. When seated correctly, your feet should rest flat on the floor with knees near 90 degrees. The seat should support your thighs without pressing behind the knees. Every chair on this page lists a recommended user height. If you are between sizes, come in and sit in both — that is the only way to be sure.
Positioning Type
3-Position: Upright, TV-watching angle, and near-flat napping position. Good for users who need reliable lift assistance and comfortable reclining. No independent back and footrest control.
Infinite Position: Back and footrest move fully independently — any combination, any angle. Zero-gravity (feet at or above heart level) and in many models Trendelenburg (feet above head) are achievable. The correct choice for therapeutic positioning needs.
Twilight (Golden) / VivaLift Tilt (Pride): A 5th independent zone tilts the entire chair from the rear pivot for deeper zero-gravity. Only available on select premium models.
Heat and Massage
Heat is not available on entry chairs and is an optional upgrade on most mid-tier models. Where it matters most: arthritis, chronic muscle tension, and users who spend four or more hours per day in the chair. Far-infrared heat (HeatWave by Golden, 3-zone by Pride) penetrates deeper than conventional heat pads. Air-bladder massage (Nirvana by Golden, air system by Pride) is more therapeutic than vibration. Know what you need before selecting a chair — not every upgrade is worth the cost for every user.
Weight Capacity
Match the chair's rated capacity to the user's weight with at least 25–30 lbs of buffer. Running a chair near its rated maximum daily degrades the mechanism and creates a safety risk. For users over 300 lbs, bariatric configurations with reinforced frames are available — standard chairs are not appropriate substitutes.

What to Confirm Before You Order
- Measure the room. Wall clearance requirements vary from 15" (Pride Ultra Small) to 27" (Relaxer PR-766 Large). Know your clearance before choosing a chair — not all infinite chairs need the same space, and some are wall-hugger designs.
- Confirm your height range. Every chair has a recommended height range. If you are near a boundary, sit in both adjacent sizes — the 1"–2" difference in seat depth and back height is immediately noticeable in person.
- Confirm fabric availability. In-stock fabrics ship within 1–5 days. Custom and premium fabrics add 10–45 business days depending on the model and upgrade. Know your delivery timeline before you order.
- If heat or massage matters, choose the chair first. Not every chair supports every heat or massage upgrade. The PR-761 does not offer Nirvana massage. The Cloud PR-510 Extra Wide does not offer HeatWave. The Journey Perfect Sleep Chair includes heat and massage standard — no upgrade needed.
- If you are over 300 lbs, confirm actual capacity with margin. Running a chair near its maximum rating daily shortens its lifespan. Choose a model rated at least 25–30 lbs above your current weight.
