The Harmar AL500HD Heavy Duty Platform Power Wheelchair Lift is the higher-capacity version of the world's most popular outside power chair lift — the same proven AL500 platform, motor, and Q'Straint retractor system, rated to 400 lbs for larger power chairs, complex rehab chairs, and bariatric models that exceed the standard AL500's 350 lb limit. The 26" × 39" Stars-N-Stripes aluminum deck, the same dual-method retractor attachment system, and the signature 12" folded bumper profile are all carried over from the AL500. The only meaningful differences: a heavier-duty motor and actuator for the extra 50 lbs of capacity, and a Class III hitch requirement in place of the Class II option. At 77 lbs installed — just 2 lbs more than the standard AL500 — the HD delivers substantially more capacity with virtually no installation or vehicle impact penalty. Power chairs only. The AL500 Platform, Built for Heavier Power Chairs

400 lb Capacity · Only 2 lbs Heavier Than the Standard AL500 The AL500HD upgrades the motor and actuator to handle the additional load demand of chairs up to 400 lbs — the platform, dimensions, retractor system, and operational characteristics are otherwise identical to the standard AL500. The result is that users with heavier power chairs, complex rehab chairs, or bariatric models get exactly the same proven lift platform they would expect from the AL500 family, without trading away any of its defining advantages. At 77 lbs installed, the HD adds just 2 lbs over the standard model while delivering 50 additional pounds of lifting capacity.
4 Q'Straint Retractors · Two Attachment Methods · No Modifications The AL500HD uses the same dual-method Q'Straint retractor attachment system as the standard AL500. Four self-tensioning retractors secure the power chair without any drilling or chair modifications — attaching via either a spreader bar that slides between the seat and seat post, or metal loops that attach directly to the chair's frame for chairs without a seat post. The padded hold-down arm stabilizes the chair during transit by pressing against the frame. This flexible attachment approach ensures the AL500HD works with virtually any power chair design including complex rehab configurations.
12" Folded Profile · Class III Required · Stars-N-Stripes Deck The AL500HD maintains the AL500's signature 12" folded bumper profile when unloaded — the same garage-friendly compact footprint that has made the AL500 family the preferred choice for everyday users who need reliable clearance. The Stars-N-Stripes perforated aluminum deck carries over unchanged. Class III hitch required — heavy-duty adapter included standard. Optional swing-away adds just 2" to the folded profile.
