About One-Piece Ostomy Systems

A one-piece ostomy system integrates the skin barrier and pouch into a single unit that is applied and removed together at each change. Because there is no separate flange or coupling ring, one-piece systems have a lower profile against the body — making them more discreet under clothing and generally easier to apply for users who are new to ostomy care or who prefer a simpler routine. The entire system is changed on the barrier's wear schedule, typically every one to four days depending on the barrier formulation and individual skin response.

Standard wear barriers are designed for daily or every-other-day changes. Extended wear barriers use a more durable adhesive formulation that maintains its bond longer — suited to active users, those with sensitive peristomal skin who benefit from fewer adhesive changes, or users who prefer longer wear intervals. Convex one-piece systems provide the same inward pressure as convex two-piece barriers for flush or retracted stomas. Cut-to-fit openings allow customization to the exact stoma size; pre-cut openings are supplied in standard sizes for users with a consistently round, stable stoma.
